An image reading device includes a reading unit and a controller connected to the reading unit through a transmission path. The controller includes: a first clock generator which generates a first reference clock; a second clock generator which generates a second reference clock; a line synchronizer which generates a line synchronization signal based on the first reference clock; a clock transmitter which transmits the line synchronization signal and a unit clock based on the first reference clock to the reading unit; and a processor which execute a process based on the second reference clock and which is synchronized with the line synchronization signal. The reading unit includes a reading sensor which reads a document line by line based on the unit clock and the line synchronization signal.

Image reading device

A motor drive device having a motor drive unit, a controller, and a rotational detector. The motor drive unit drives a brushless DC motor, the brushless DC motor has a rotor. The controller produces a motor driving signal to drive the brushless DC motor. The a rotational detector detects a rotational state of the brushless DC motor to produce a rotational state signal. The controller receives the rotational state signal from the rotational detector, determines a phase-switching timing to switch a phase of the brushless DC motor based on the rotational state signal, and transmits the phase-switching timing as the motor driving signal to the motor driver.

An apparatus for controlling a rotational motion of a motor is disclosed which includes: a signal generator generating a rotational state signal indicative of a rotational state of the motor; and a controller producing a control signal for controlling the rotational motion of the motor, based on the rotational state signal generated by the signal generator, to thereby control the motor based on the produced control signal. The controller produces the control signal during a start up of the motor, such that the produced control signal is not affected by a noise component which is incorporated into the rotational state signal during the start up of the motor.

An image recording apparatus which records an image of an original document on an image receiving sheet with the use of a photosensitive recording medium, the image receiving sheet having front and rear faces differing in reflection ratio. To detect error in sheet face orientation, a sheet face sensor unit is provided upstream of a pressure developing unit which discriminates a face of the image receiving sheet. The sensor unit includes a light emitting element for emitting light toward the face of the image receiving sheet and a light receiving element for receiving light emitted from the light emitting element and reflected on the face of the image receiving sheet. A central processing unit is supplied with data representative of amounts of light emitted from the light emitting element and light received at the light receiving element, wherein the central processing unit computes a reflection ratio based on the data supplied thereto and produces a discrimination signal indicative of an error in sheet face orientation of the image receiving sheet based on the reflection ratio being computed.
