This invention provides an antiglare film which has high antiglare property and show little white-blurring. An embodiment of the present invention is an antiglare film having a binder matrix and particles on a transparent substrate. The binder matrix is an acrylic material. The particles are made of a copolymer of styrene and methyl methacrylate. The copolymerization ratio by weight of the styrene and methyl methacrylate is in the styrene:methacrylic acid=60:40 to 80:20 range. In addition, a quotient R/H, which is obtained by dividing an average diameter of the particles (R) by the average thickness of the antiglare layer (H), is in the 0.45-0.65 range. Moreover, a quotient w/w, which is obtained by dividing a content of the particles in the antiglare layer (w) by a content of the binder matrix in the antiglare layer (w) is in the 0.08-0/164.

Antiglare film

An antiglare film includes an antiglare layer having a binder matrix, and particles A and particles B therein on a transparent substrate. A difference in density between the particles A and particles B is 0.2 g/cmor less. The quotient value (R/H), which is obtained by division of the average diameter of the particles A (R) by the average thickness of the antiglare layer (H), is in the 0.40-0.80 range. The quotient value (R/R), which is obtained by division of the average diameter of the particles B (R) by the average diameter of the particles A (R), is in the 0.20-0.60 range. The quotient value ((w+w)/w), which is obtained by dividing the sum of the content of the particles A (w) and that of the particles B (w) in the antiglare layer (w+w) by the content of the binder matrix in the antiglare layer (w), is in the 0.10-0.40 range. The quotient value (w/w), which is obtained by division of the content of the particles B (w) by that of the particles A (w) in the antiglare layer, is in the 0.50-1.50 range.

Antiglare film having first and second particles with different average diameters

An antiglare film includes an antiglare layer having particles and a binder matrix on a transparent base material. An antiglare film surface on the antiglare layer side has a concave-convex structure with a ten-point average roughness (Rz) equal to or larger than 0.08 &#x3bc;m and equal to or smaller than 0.10 &#x3bc;m at a cutoff wavelength (&#x3bb;) of 0.008 mm, the antiglare film surface on the antiglare layer side has a concave-convex structure with a ten-point average roughness (Rz) equal to or larger than 1.90 &#x3bc;m and equal to or smaller than 2.50 &#x3bc;m at a cutoff wavelength (&#x3bb;) of 0.8 mm, and the antiglare film surface on the antiglare layer side has a concave-convex structure with an average spacing (S) between local peaks equal to or larger than 0.033 mm and equal to or smaller than 0.050 mm at a cutoff wavelength (&#x3bb;) of 0.8 mm.

An antiglare film satisfies both (1) high antiglare property in the front direction and (2) absence of white blurring. One embodiment of the invention is an antiglare film provided with an antiglare layer on a transparent substrate, wherein the antiglare layer has a rugged structure on the surface opposite to the transparent substrate; the 5&#xb0; reflectance of the antiglare film surface on the antiglare layer side is in a range of from 0.30% to 0.70%; the antiglare film surface on the antiglare layer side is provided with a rugged structure having arithmetic average roughness (Ra) in the range of from 0.020 &#x3bc;m to 0.040 &#x3bc;m when a cutoff wavelength (&#x3bb;) is 0.008 mm; and the antiglare film surface on the antiglare layer side is provided with a rugged structure having arithmetic average roughness (Ra) in the range of from 0.35 &#x3bc;m to 0.45 &#x3bc;m when a cutoff wavelength (&#x3bb;) is 0.8 mm.

Antiglare film and transmissive liquid crystal display

One embodiment of the present invention is disclosed. A method of manufacturing an antiglare film comprising: forming a film by applying a coating liquid to a transparent substrate; and forming an antiglare layer by curing the film by irradiating the film with ionizing radiation, wherein the coating liquid includes a binder matrix forming material including an ionizing radiation-curable material, particle A and particle B, wherein difference in refractive index between either or both of particle A and particle B, and a cured binder matrix is equal to or more than 0.03, and wherein difference between average refractive index of particle A and particle B calculated based on respective weight of particle A and particle B and refractive index of a binder matrix is equal to or less than 0.03.

Antiglare film and method of manufacturing the same

An antiglare film is disclosed including a transparent substrate; and an antiglare layer including a binder matrix and a particle, wherein reflectivity of 5&#xb0; angle of a surface of the antiglare film which surface is in the antiglare layer side among both sides of the antiglare film is 2.4-4.4%, wherein image clarity (C+C+C) measured by reflection method on an antiglare layer side is 20-70%, and wherein difference in refractive index between the binder matrix and the particle is equal to or less than 0.07.

An antiglare film comprises a transparent substrate; and an antiglare layer on the transparent substrate, the layer including a binder matrix, organic particles A and organic particles B having an average particle diameter smaller than an average particle diameter of particles A, organic particles A and organic particles B dispersed in the binder matrix. An antiglare film having of the present invention can have the following features: good antiglare property; no white blur; high abrasion resistant property; less dazzling; and not whitened.

An antiglare film is disclosed comprising a transparent substrate and an antiglare layer including a binder matrix and a particle, wherein center line average roughness Ra of a surface of an antiglare film which surface is on an antiglare layer side among both sides of an antiglare film is 0.06-0.17 &#x3bc;m, wherein reflectivity of 5&#xb0; angle of the surface is 2.4-4.4%, and wherein difference in refractive index between the binder matrix and the particle is equal to or less than 0.07.

An antiglare light diffusing member is provided comprising a transparent base material and an antiglare light diffusing layer including a binder matrix, a plurality of particles (A) and a plurality of particles (B). A front surface of the antiglare light diffusing layer should not be flat. The difference between a refractive index of the plurality of particles (A) and a refractive index of the binder matrix can be less than or equal to 0.02. The difference between a refractive index of the plurality of particles (B) and a refractive index of the binder matrix can be 0.03-0.2. An average particle diameter of the plurality of particles (A) can be bigger than an average film thickness of the antiglare light diffusing layer. An average particle diameter of the plurality of particles (B) is smaller than an average film thickness of the antiglare light diffusing layer.
