There is provided a pigment dispersant that is a block polymer P in which a hydrophobic polymer block A and a hydrophilic polymer block B containing an anionic group are linked to each other. The block polymer P has a number average molecular weight ranging from 1000 to 4000; and where the block polymer P is subjected to 100% neutralization of the anionic group with a basic compound and dispersed in water and where the fine particles of the dispersed block polymer P are subjected to measurement of a scattering profile by small- or ultra-small-angle X-ray scattering that involves use of synchrotron radiation, at least one minimum value in the scattering profile is present within the range of a scattering vector q from 0.1 to 1 nm. Provided is a printing agent including a pigment, a pigment dispersant, water, an organic solvent, and a binder resin, the pigment dispersant being a polymer (A) including an anionic group, the polymer (A) having a solubility in water of 0.1 g/100 ml or less, a number-average molecular weight of 1000 to 6000, and an acid value of 40 to 400 mgKOH/g. Also provided is a printed fabric produced by applying the printing agent on a fabric. A water-based ink for inkjet recording contains a pigment, water, organic solvents, at least one compound selected from urea compounds, and a binder resin. The organic solvents include at least (1) a water-soluble organic solvent having a boiling point of from 100&#xb0; C. to 200&#xb0; C. inclusive and a vapor pressure at 20&#xb0; C. of 0.5 hPa or more, (2) propylene glycol, and (3) glycerin, diglycerin, and/or a derivative thereof serving as an organic solvent. Preferably, the water-based ink further contains a polymer (A) serving as a pigment dispersant. The polymer (A) has an anionic group and has a solubility in water of 0.1 g/100 mL or more, a number average molecular weight within the range of 1,000 to 6,000, and an acid value within the range of 40 to 190 mg KOH/g.

The present invention provides a method for producing a block copolymer, which includes subjecting styrene or a derivative thereof (excluding &#x3b1;-methylstyrene) to living anionic polymerization in the presence of a polymerization initiator by means of a microreactor having a channel being capable of mixing a plurality of liquids with each other, reacting a propagation end of the resultant polymer block (A) derived from styrene or a derivative thereof with &#x3b1;-methylstyrene to obtain an intermediate polymer having a polymer unit (B) derived from &#x3b1;-methylstyrene bonded to one end of the polymer block (A), and then subjecting a (meth)acrylate compound (c) to living anionic polymerization in the presence of a polymerization initiator so that the polymer unit (B) derived from &#x3b1;-methyl styrene in the intermediate polymer serves as a propagation end to form a polymer block (C) derived from the (meth)acrylate compound (c).

Disclosed are an aqueous pigment dispersion and an aqueous ink for inkjet recording each of which includes a polymer (A), a pigment, and water. The polymer (A) has an anionic group, has a solubility in water of 0.1 g/100 mL or less and a number average molecular weight within the range of 1,000 to 6,000, and forms fine particles in water when the degree of neutralization of the anionic groups with the basic compound is 100%. The present invention concerns an aqueous resin dispersion comprising a copolymer of a perfluoroalkyl group-containing ethylenically unsaturated monomer and/or polydimethylsiloxane group-containing ethylenically unsaturated monomer and another ethylenically unsaturated monomer copolymerizable therewith dispersed in water in the presence of a water-dispersible polyurethane containing a polydimethylsiloxane group such as silicone and a hydrophilic group such as a carboxylate group. The aqueous resin dispersion of the present invention provides a release agent which can freely control releasability, be excellent in adhesion to a substrate, and undergo little migration to back face or little change in releasability with time.
