A recording/reproducing device and a recording/reproducing method, which are capable of improving reliability of data while securing compatibility with a file format employed in a recording medium are provided. Provided is a reconstruction method of reproduction data acquired from a reproducing device that reproduces data from a recording medium in which the data is recorded, performs error correction using a second error correction code specified in a file format employed in the recording medium, and outputs reproduction data, and the reconstruction method of the reproduction data includes obtaining reproduction data from the reproducing device, reading a first error correction code different from the second error correction code from the reproduction data, and performing error correction on the reproduction data using the first error correction code and reconstructing user data.

If a fault, or deterioration in read-out quality, is detected during recording processing with respect to a first recording face, a duplication is made, with respect to the recorded data on the second recording face of the same recording medium, on a separate recording medium.

Recording/reproducing system and server

The present invention relates to a recording/reproducing device that records data on a double-sided recordable optical disk for storage and management purposes. The device includes a unit which stores a plurality of optical disks, a unit which records data onto and reproduces data from an upper side of an optical disk, a unit which records data onto and reproduces data from a lower side of an optical disk, a unit which conveys an optical disk between the disk storage unit and each recording/reproducing unit. When a request for reading data recorded on the lower side of the disk is received while the upper side is being written onto, a control unit interrupts a data recording process on the upper side, reproduces data recorded on the lower side, and after completion of reproducing the recorded data, resumes the interrupted data recording process.

A recording and/or reproducing apparatus includes a plurality of devices in which a first device has a connecting unit connected with a host device to perform a data transfer with the host device, a second device shares a temporarily recording area with the first device to perform the data transfer between the first and second devices via the temporarily recording area, and the data transfer is performed by using the temporarily recording area shared with the first device and using the connecting unit of the first device when the second device performs the data transfer with the host device, in this way, a power consumption is reduced.
