An altitude compensation device for automobile engines or the like having a bellows adapted to detect the altitude and a plurality of valve mechanisms adapted to be actuated by the expansion or contraction of the bellows to adjust respective compensation air. The device has a disc mounted in the body of the device for free up and downward movement keeping a horizontal posture. The disc is carried by the bellows making a point contact with the central portion of the upper face of the bellows, so that it is almost free from the tilting of the bellows attributable to a vibration or the like. The valve mechanisms are operatively supported by the disc so as to be actuated uniformly by the bellows through the medium of the disc. Also, means are provided for adjusting the valve mechanisms independently of one another.

Altitude compensation device

Disclosed herein is a device for automatically regulating a choke valve mounted in a carburetor. The device comprises a housing fixed to the body of a carburetor, a bimetal coil provided in the housing and connected to a choke valve shaft urging the choke valve to a closed or open position, an electric heater device located adjacent to the bimetal coil, and a heat conductive member interposed between the bimetal coil and the heater device. Each surface of the heat conductive member is kept in contact with both the heater device and the bimetal coil. Particularly, the bimetal coil is formed in a conical shape and mounted on a retainer, thus being operable to press the heat conductive member with its compressive spring force so as to receive the heat output from the heater device efficiently and quickly by direct heat conduction.

A carburetor for internal combustion engines includes an inner vent passage through which the space on the free surface of liquid fuel in a float chamber is communicated with the intake passage of the carburetor and an outer vent passage through which the space in the float chamber is communicated with a charcoal canister adapted to store the fuel vapor coming from the space in the float chamber. A valve is movable between a first position in which the inner vent passage is closed and the outer vent passage is opened and a second position in which the inner vent passage is opened and the outer vent passage is closed. A pressure responsive valve actuator is operative in response to the vacuum in the intake passage to normally bias the valve to the first position and to move the valve to the second position when a vacuum is established in the intake passage. A further valve is diposed to control the connection and disconnection between the pressure responsive valve actuator and the intake passage. The further valve interrupts, when the throttle valve reaches a predetermined opening degree, the communication of the valve actuator and the intake passage so as to maintain the valve actuator in the state in which it is subjected to the vacuum which has been derived from the intake passage, thereby to retain the first-mentioned valve in the second position.

Carburetor for internal combustion engines

A filter adapted for use in a fluid passage and having a novel structure for coupling to the fluid passage. The filter has a general configuration of a bottom-ended cylinder, with the bottom portion formed with a plurality of bores constituting a filtrating screen. The cylinder has an annular joining projection at an end remote from the filtrating screeen, the projection being securely elastically fitted on the outer circumferential surface of a restriction fixed to the fluid passage or on the inner surface of the fluid passage, securely and airtightly coupled to each other. The filter is positioned close to the constriction of the fluid passage, the risk of accumulation of alien matter therebetween being eliminated. Also, the entire cylindrical filter is made from an integral molding of elastic material, there being no likelihood of adverse effect by the fibers that constitute the filter.

A carburetor for internal combustion engines includes an inner vent passage through which the space on the free surface of liquid fuel in a float chamber is communicated with the intake passage of the carburetor and an outer vent passage through which the space in the float chamber is communicated with a charcoal canister adapted to store the fuel vapor coming from the space of the float chamber. A valve is movable between a first position in which the inner vent passage is closed and the outer vent passage is opened and a second position in which the inner vent passage is opened and the outer vent passage is closed. A pressure responsive valve actuator normally holds the valve in the first position and moves the valve to the second position as a vacuum is generated in the intake passage. A further valve actuator holds the valve in the second position regardless of the action of the pressure-responsive valve actuator on the valve when the throttle valve has been opened to and beyond a predetermined opening.

A mixture adjusting screw in a carburetor for regulating the fuel efflux during engine idling is provided in which the end needle portion of the screw is located in the idle port of the carburetor and a spring is loaded around the rod portion of the screw to hold the screw in position after adjustment so as to maintain its proper adjustment. The screw head is covered by a plug and it is specifically shaped to inhibit easy access of the user to the screw for adjustment purposes. The air and fuel mixture formed in the low-load fuel system in the carburetor is well stirred due to the presence of the spring which is exposed to a fuel passage and is formed into an emulsion flow, allowing stabilized rotation of the engine during idling and high performance thereof in normal running.
