A gas sensor element includes a main body and a protective layer. The main body has four plane portions and four corner portions each of which is formed between one adjacent pair of the plane portions. The four corner portions include a pair of first corner portions that are formed on a porous diffusion-resistant layer side in a lamination direction of the main body and a pair of second corner portions that are formed on a heater layer side in the lamination direction. The protective layer is comprised of an inner protective layer that covers at least the first corner portions of the main body and an outer protective layer that covers the entire outer periphery of the main body and the inner protective layer. The protective layer has a larger average thickness at the first corner portions than at the plane portions of the main body.

Laminated core and method for manufacturing the same

A laminated core having a first number of magnetic poles, the first number being a natural number divided by two, of a rotary electric machine, includes a plurality of arc-shaped unit cores each having a second number of magnetic poles, the second number being a natural number except for an aliquot part of the first number. The unit cores are wound and laminated a predetermined number of times in a circumferential direction into a spiral shape in such a manner that an axial lamination amount of the unit cores is obtained by an equation of X=&#x3b8;*t/360, X being the axial lamination amount, &#x3b8; being a winding angle of the unit cores, and t being a thickness of the unit core. The unit cores are adjacent to each other in the circumferential direction connected to each other at a part of an outer circumference thereof.

Laminated core of rotary electric machine

A multi-layer coil is wound around a bobbin having a center pillar and a small and a large flanges connected to longitudinal ends of the center pillar. A winding space having a trapezoidal cross-section in a plane cut through the center axis of the bobbin is formed outside the center pillar between both flanges. To wind the multi-layer coil in this winding space, a turning position where a layer of the coil moves up to a higher layer is set by a position setter, and the turning position is automatically shifted layer by layer to form a sloped outer surface of the coil. The coil is wound in a shape fitting the trapezoidal winding space without reducing the winding speed. The space factor of the coil in the winding space is improved, making the coil compact in size.
