An air conditioning apparatus comprises a plurality of outlet ports, a blowing fan for blowing off an conditioned air from the outlet ports to the outside of the main body of the apparatus, an air directing plate arranged in at least one of the outlet ports to enable the direction of the conditioned air to change, an operation state detecting device for detecting the operation state of the main body, and a driving device for adjusting the position of the air directing plate, depending on signals from the operation state detecting device.

Air conditioning apparatus

A control device for an air conditioner operable in the heating and cooling operation mode is disclosed, which device comprises a 'too hot' and a 'too cold' switch which is operated by the user when he feels that it is too hot or too cold in the room conditioned by the air conditioner. When a first operation of one of these switches by the user takes place, a mode selector automatically selects the operation mode of the air conditioner, and the control of the air conditioner is started immediately. The setting or target temperature is automatically renewed every time a further operation of one of the switches is made, so that the target temperature may be adjusted to the individual preference of the user. The fan speed of the air conditioner may also be modified according to the frequency of inputs through the switches.

In an air flow control device for an air conditioner including a heat exchanger arranged so as to face an inlet port, and upper and lower air-blowing fans disposed in upper and lower outlet ports, respectively, wherein air sucked through the inlet port and the heat exchanger is directed to the fans, there are further provided input producing means for outputting a condition required for the outlet air from the outlet ports and phenomenon information on the outlet air, upper and lower fan operation mode determining means for determining the operation modes depending on the output signals from the input producing means, upper and lower fan operation mode control means for controlling the operation of both fans at the operation mode according to the commands from the operation mode determining means, and control means for optimizing the outlet air to a user.

An air conditioning device comprises a refrigerant compression cycle having an electrically driven compressor, an electric motor for driving the compressor, frequency changing means for changing the frequency of a.c. power to be applied to the motor, an outlet port for blowing off conditioned air, flowing direction changing means for changing the flowing direction of the conditioned air from the outlet port, a switch which is actuated by a user when he desires to allow the conditioned air to hit himself directly, and control means for controlling the frequency changing means and the flowing direction changing means, wherein when the switch is actuated during room cooling operation, the control means outputs to the flowing direction changing means a signal for directing the conditioned air from the outlet port in a downward flowing direction.

An air conditioner capable of performing air conditioning in a room regardless of installation condition of an indoor unit thereof and the air blow condition, that is, a blow power of a heated or cooled air blow. An air flow control device for an air conditioner increases the revolution of a fan motor to the revolution wherein the short cycle does not occur, or change the direction of an air directing plate to a preset angle wherein the short cycle does not occur when information corresponding to the short cycle is detected based on the air flowing direction from the outlet port or an intake air temperature. As a result, the short cycle can be prevented, and effective heat exchanger and effective air conditioning wherein temperature distribution in a room to be air-conditioned is not deteriotated are obtained.

The air conditioner comprises a manual or automatic sensible temperature detection decision means consisting of a temperature detector for detecting room temperature, a hot/cold selector switch, a radiant heat detector, an air current detector and an outdoor temperature detector, an analog/digital signal converter, a microcomputer, a compressor and a blower, which is characterized in that temperature can be set to a thermal sense of a user, room temperature is automatically regulated step by step to coincide with the set temperature, or a sensible temperature is set automatically by the temperature detection and setting function and thus kept constant at all times.

In the air conditioning control apparatus of the present invention, the frequency determining means determines not only an operation frequency for the compressor depending on the load determined based on the detected room temperature and the set room temperature, but also an upper limit for the compressor operation frequency based on the air flow rate of the outlet air from the upper and lower outlet ports of the indoor unit and the successive operation time of the compressor. As a result, even if the compressor carriers out cooling operation under too great of a load, the temperature of the air blown off from the upper outlet port of the indoor unit is prevented from dropping down to less than a certain value, thereby eliminating economically the problem wherein dew is produced on the outer surface of the ceiling plate and so on.

An air flow control device for an air conditioner includes a compressor, an outdoor side heat exchanger, expansion means and a room side heat exchanger in sequence, wherein the improvement comprises a room side unit with a upper and lower outlet ports, having the room side heat exchanger therein, upper and lower air-blowing fans disposed in the room side unit so as to face the upper and lower outlet ports, respectively, controller for controlling the operations of the air-blowing fans, a covering member positioned at least one of the outlet ports so as to open and close the corresponding outlet port, and a driving device for controlling the opening and closing operations of the covering member.

A heat exchanger comprises a plurality of regularly corrugated fins placed one over another in layers at regular pitches in a back-to-back arrangement so as to form alternate wide and narrow fluid passage between the adjacent corrugated fins, and each having a plurality of small through holes, a plurality of collars formed in a staggered arrangement, and an annular area not having any small through hole and formed so as to surround the root of each collar; and pipes for passing a secondary fluid therethrough, each inserted through the collars of the layers of the corrugated fins. The height of the collar from the lower surface of the annular area corresponds to the pitch between the adjacent corrugated fins, and thereby the corrugated fins can be assembled at regular pitches simply by placing one over another. The pipes are expanded after being inserted through the collars so that the pipes are firmly and closely joined to the collars for satisfactory heat transmission between the fins and the pipes.

Heat exchanger for an air-conditioning apparatus

A heat exchanger comprises a plurality of perforated and regularly corrugated heat transfer plates arranged in a ridge-to-ridge and furrow-to-furrow arrangement, so as to form primary fluid passages each consisting of alternate expanded sections and narrowed sections arranged along the direction of flow of a primary fluid, and a plurality of pipes for passing a secondary fluid therethrough, the pipes penetrating through and across the heat transfer plates. Oblique guide grooves are formed in the surfaces of each heat transfer plates to facilitate the downward flow of the condensate condensed over the surfaces of the heat transfer plates, the grooves being inclined closer to the vertical than to the horizontal to facilitate downward flow of any vapor condensed on the plates from the primary fluid whereby the heat transfer plates dry quickly for efficient heat exchange between the primary and secondary fluids.

An air conditioning method with use of an air conditioner comprises a step of determining whether or not an input signal is produced from a plurality of switches for providing conditions, a step of determining an established temperature on the basis of the signal from the switches, a step of comparing data provided by the established temperature determining step with the room temperature detected by the temperature detector to produce a signal, and a step of controlling the compressor based on the signal as a result of the comparison.
