An atomic beam generator includes a cathode constituted as a housing having an emission surface provided with an irradiation port through which an atomic beam is emissive; an anode disposed inside the cathode to generate plasma between the cathode and the anode; and a magnetic field generating unit including a first magnetic field generating unit that generates a first magnetic field and a second magnetic field generating unit that generates a second magnetic field, and guiding positive ions produced in the cathode to the emission surface by generating, in the cathode, the first magnetic field and the second magnetic field both parallel to the emission surface such that a magnetic field direction is leftward in the first magnetic field and is rightward in the second magnetic field when viewed from an emission surface side on condition of the first magnetic field being positioned above the second magnetic field.

At least one selected from the group consisting of a shape of the cathode, a shape of the first anode, a shape of the second anode, and a positional relationship between the cathode, the first anode, and the second anode is predetermined so that emission of sputter particles resulting from collision of cations, which have been generated by plasma between the first anode and the second anode, with at least one selected from the cathode, the first anode, and the second anode is reduced.

A honeycomb filter production apparatus used for producing a honeycomb filter, the apparatus includes: a workpiece securing section for securing a base (workpiece) of a honeycomb filter; a powder transfer section for transferring a powder together with an air current by utilizing pressurized gas; an introduction section that is provided between the powder transfer section and the workpiece securing section, the powder transferred from the powder transfer section together with the air current being mixed with another gas in the introduction section, and introduced into the base (workpiece) secured by the workpiece securing section; and a suction section for sucking the gas that has passed through the base (workpiece) secured by the workpiece securing section by reducing pressure on the other side of the workpiece securing section as compared with the one side of the workpiece securing section using suction means.

A method of manufacturing a honeycomb structure having a plugged portion, which is faster and cheaper to manufacture, and a manufacturing apparatus thereof. A film is attached to an end face of a honeycomb structure in a state where the honeycomb structure is positioned in a table portion having a through hole into which the end face portion of the honeycomb structure is to be inserted, and the film is held in a flat state where a remaining portion of the film which is not attached to the end face is attached to the table portion. Then, holes opened so as to correspond to the openings of a part of cells are formed in the film to form the film as a mask, and a plugging material having fluidity is supplied onto the mask or onto the same plane as the mask to fill the cells with the plugging material.

A manufacturing apparatus of a plugged honeycomb structure includes a table portion having a through hole into which the end of a honeycomb structure is inserted, positioning means for positioning and holding the honeycomb structure in the through hole of the table portion in such a manner that its end face appears on the side of a first face of the table portion, and a film holding portion fixing the remaining portion of a film on the side of a second face of the table portion. After or before fixing the film, holes corresponding to openings of cells of the honeycomb structure are formed in the film, and a plugging material is filled into the holes, to manufacture the plugged honeycomb structure using the apparatus.

Manufacturing apparatus of plugged honeycomb structure and manufacturing method of the same

A method of manufacturing a honeycomb structure having a plugged portion, wherein a mask is applied to the honeycomb structure, a plugging material is supplied on the mask or on the same plane as a surface of the mask, and a pressurizing apparatus disposed at an acute angle with respect to the surface of the mask and having a pressurizing face for pressurizing the plugging material is moved to fill the plugging material into the cells of the honeycomb structure. The pressurizing apparatus is moved on the mask with a part of the region of the pressurizing face being brought into surface contact with the mask via the plugging material to pressurize the plugging material toward the cell side and to push out an extra plugging material in the direction of movement to further pressurize and fill the material into the cells with forming the region of the surface contact.

A piezoelectric actuator is provided, including comb-shape piezoelectric actuators, each including a plurality of piezoelectric layers. The actuators are made by a process including the steps of (1) preparing a plurality of piezoelectric material green sheets on which electrode films are formed and forming slits on a first green sheet using a punch and a die, (2) pulling up the first green sheet using a stripper, (3) pulling up a top portion of the punch slightly from the lowest portion of the pulled up first green sheet, (4) forming second slits in a second green sheet by the punch, (5) pulling up the second green sheet jointly with the first green sheet, (6) pulling up the top portion of the punch slightly from the lowest portion of the pulled up second green sheet, and thereafter laminating green sheets by repeating steps (4) through (6). A wire sawing apparatus includes a wire, a wire feed roller, and two basic rollers. The three rollers have the same diameter and are arranged in such a manner that their axes of rotation are in parallel with one another. Cutting-positioning circumferential grooves are formed on the two basic rollers at axially paired same positions. Intermediate circumferential grooves are formed on the wire feed roller and arranged in the axial direction such that the axial position of each intermediate circumferential groove corresponds to an axially central position between two adjacent pairs of cutting-positioning circumferential grooves. The wire is spirally wound a plurality of turns on the three rollers while being fitted into the circumferential grooves.
