A scroll compressor includes a compression mechanism having a fixed scroll and a movable scroll, and a floating member supporting the movable scroll. The floating member includes an opposing surface opposed to a back surface of the movable scroll. The back surface of the movable scroll includes a first portion facing an inner portion of the opposing surface of the floating member, and a second portion facing an outer portion of the opposing surface of the floating member. A clearance is present between the inner portion of the opposing surface and the first portion of the back surface.

A rotary compressor includes a rotation compression element, a discharge port and a muffler. The rotation compression element is configured to compress gas as a result of rotation of a crankshaft about a rotation axis. The discharge port is configured to discharge the gas compressed by the rotation compression element. The muffler is arranged to cover the discharge port and surround the crankshaft. The muffler has a muffler crankshaft hole through which the crankshaft passes, and a muffler discharge region configured to discharge the compressed gas discharged from the discharge port toward an outer surface of the crankshaft.

A compressor has stator of a motor is installed in a closed container, on two planes normal to the center axisof the container. On each of the planes, the stator is welded to the container at three welding points. This mounting arrangement on two planes with three welding points on each plane minimizes the amount of movement of the stator in the direction of the center axis.

A compressor includes a first muffler chamber communicating with a first cylinder chamber, and a second muffler chamber communicating with a second cylinder chamber. The first muffler chamber and the second muffler chamber are communicated with each other by a gas passage. The gas passage is communicated with a Helmholtz type resonance chamber by a connecting passage. The connecting passage is connected to a lowermost end of the resonance chamber. Therefore, oil contained in the refrigerant gas, even if having entered into the resonance chamber, is discharged through the connecting passage located at the lowermost end of the resonance chamber to outside of the resonance chamber. Thus, since oil is not accumulated in the resonance chamber, the resonance chamber keeps generally constant in capacity at all times.

A pistonhas a generally cylindrical-shaped roller and a blade that is integrally formed with the roller. The pistonperforms a swing motion while orbitally revolving within a cylinder chamber of a cylinder. A light-load side portion of an inner circumferential sliding surface of the roller is provided as a small-width portion which is smaller in width than a heavy-load side large-width portion. The small-width portion is formed over a range from a point A resulting from a 30&#xb0; displacement to a point B resulting from a 180&#xb0; displacement in a rotational direction of the drive shaft from a base point which is given by a joining point O of the roller with the blade. The pistonorbitally revolves within the horizontal plane, and the small-width portion of the roller serves as an oil sump in such a manner that upper side portion of the inner circumferential sliding surface is cut out.

A rotary compressor includes a cylinder body, end plate members fitted on both sides of the cylinder body, a roller placed in a cylinder chamber, a blade fitted to the roller, and a bushing for supporting the blade. A width of the bushing in a roller axis direction is larger than an axial width of the roller. A gap in the roller axis direction between the roller and the end plate members is larger than a gap in the roller axis direction between the bushing and the end plate members.

A scroll type fluid machinery which is provided with: a first scroll and a second scroll which moves with respect to the first scroll, where the base of the first scroll is provided with suction bores perforating through the base from the rear surface thereof to the front surface, and open at the outer peripheral portion of the front surface of the base, so that fluid released into an internal space of the body casing passes through the suction bores, and into the suction sides of compression volumes formed between spiral members of the scrolls, whereby suction pressure in the compression volumes is maximized and volumetric efficiency is improved.

A thermal isolation arrangement for use in a co-rotating scroll refrigerant compressor includes various thermal insulation elements adapted to minimize heat transfer between hot rotating members of the scroll fluid device and the return refrigerant to be compressed, and between hot lubricant in the compressor and the return refrigerant. The thermal isolation elements of the present invention may be used individually or collectively to minimize the preheating of the inlet refrigerant so as to maintain the density of the return refrigerant being compressed to thereby increase the total efficiency of the scroll fluid device.
