Lubricant base oils are made up essentially of 2-15% by weight of a total aromatics content, greater than 60% by weight of isoparaffins and monocyclic naphthenes in total, more than 30% by weight of alkylbenzenes in the total aromatics content and smaller than 4% by weight of tricyclic and tetracyclic aromatics in the total aromatics content. The base oil has great viscosity index, small pour point, high oxidative stability and heat stability and sufficient capability to dissolve sludge.

Lubricating oils

A lubricating oil composition comprises a mixture of a first ester of medium-chain saturated fatty acid and glycerol and a second ester of sucrose and carboxylic acid. The composition has improved physical characteristics including high hygienic safety, increased oxidative stability, enhanced lubricating performance, adequate viscosity and other properties required for lubricating particularly food processing machineries and implements.

An oil and fat composition for food processing machines comprises polyglycerides of medium chain saturated fatty acids and/or mixed polyglycerides of medium chain saturated fatty acids and long chain saturated fatty acids and, optionally, triglycerides of medium chain saturated fatty acids. The composition is safe for food sanitation, has excellent oxidation stability and lubricating property and a suitable degree of viscosity and cloud point as well as a high viscosity and a low temperature fluidity which cannot be attained by MCT and is favorably utilized as lubricating oil for food processing machines and tools and agricultural machines and tools.

Oil and fat composition for lubricating food processing machines and use

A method for preserving the degree of freshness of poultry shell eggs is disclosed which comprises spraying the surface of a shell egg with an effective amount of a composition comprising a triglyceride of saturated fatty acids (I) of the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein: R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are the same or different, linear aliphatic hydrocarbon groups containing from 5 to 21 carbon atoms, and as an essential ingredient, a fatty acid (II) containing from 12 to 20 carbon atoms in an amount of from 0.01 to 0.5% by weight on the basis of the total weight of the composition.

A greasy oil and fat composition for food processing machines is prepared by mixing a fatty acid ester of polyglycerol, oil and fat for food and glycerol, melting the mixture by heating and kneading the mixture. The greasy oil and fat composition is safe for food sanitation, has excellent oxidation stability and lubricating properties and is favorably utilized as lubricant for food processing machines.

A composition for the freshness-preservation of foodstuffs is disclosed which comprises, as an active base a triglyceride of saturated fatty acids (I) corresponding to the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein: R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are the same or different, linear aliphatic hydrocarbon groups containing from 5 to 21 carbon atoms.

A lubricating oil composition other than that for food processing machines, which comprises (I) as the base oil, a saturated fatty acid glyceride represented by the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 may be identical with, or different from, each other, and are each a straight-chain alkyl group having 5 to 21 carbon atoms, and (II) as an essential component, a fatty acid having 12 to 22 carbon atoms in an amount of 0.001 to 5.0% by weight, based on the total composition.

Lubricating oil compositions containing a glyceride from a saturated

Lubricating oil compositions favorably used for food processing machines are disclosed. The oil compositions exhibit highly improved oxidation stability, wear resistance and rust prevention. Raw materials quite harmless to human bodies can be used in the production of said lubricating oil composition which comprises (I) as the base oil, a saturated fatty acid glyceride represented by the following general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are each a straight-chain alkyl group and (II) as an essential component, a fatty acid in an amount of 0.001 to 5% by weight, based on the total composition.

Lubricating oil compositions for food processing machines

A metal working lubricant is disclosed for effective use in the working of metallic materials, particularly in cold rolling, which comprises the components of [I] an alkali metal salt, an alkaline earth metal salt, or a salt or amide of an amine or alkanolamine of a carbon number of 1 to 24, each said salt and said amide being derived from at least one acid selected from the group consisting of (1) an aliphatic mono- or di-carboxylic acid of 8 to 22 carbon atoms, or a polycarboxylic acid thereof, (2) a petroleum sulfonic acid, and (3) a naphthenic acid; [II] an alkylene glycol of the formula HO--C.sub.n H.sub.2n O.sub.m--H where m is an integer of 1 to 3, and n is an integer of 3 to 10; [III] water; and [IV] a mineral oil, a synthetic lubricant, a fat, a fatty oil or a combination thereof.
