The present invention provides a light source device for emitting concentrated light, which is prepared by concentrating light emitted from a light source, including: the light source; a reflective box in which the light source is provided; a plurality of light guides having a circular column shape or a polygonal column shape and having two end surfaces being different in area; and light separating means, the reflective box having a plurality of openings, each opening being provided with one of the light guides in such a way that the end surface smaller in area faces the light source, and each light separating means being provided at a position between the adjacent ones of the openings. With this, a small-sized light source device for emitting light with high output and high directivity, and a simulated solar light irradiation device including the same are provided.

A joint drive mechanism includes a plurality of link members linked via a joint portion. A drive portion is associated with the joint portion for driving the joint portion such that the link members attached thereto can be moved relative to one another in a controlled fashion. The drive portion includes a plurality of drive elements that each are capable of expanding or contracting in response to an applied electric signal so as to provide different drive outputs to the joint portion. In one embodiment, a joint portion connects link members simulating portions of a human finger. The drive portion includes a pair of drive elements connected to the joint portion by a transmission member. Each of the drive elements is expanded or contracted equally and oppositely relative to the other drive element in response to controlled applied electrical signals.

A focus control process (S), a spherical aberration correcting process (S), and a focus offset adjusting process (Sto S) are performed in this order. In the focus control process, an output of a focus error signal obtained by detecting focal point displacement that occurs in a direction of an optical axis of a light beam focused through a two-element object lens is controlled so that the output becomes close to zero. In the spherical aberration correcting process, spherical aberration that occurs with respect to the light beam is corrected. The focal point detection method detects focal point dislocation of a coupling objective lens in accordance with a light beam passing a 60% to 80% region of a light beam effective diameter, which is centered with respect to an optical axis OZ of a light beam passing through the coupling objective lens, and which is regulated by a numerical aperture of the coupling objective lens. In this manner, focal point dislocation of a converging optical system can be performed without an offset, thereby accurately forming a focal point of the converging optical system on an information recording layer of an optical recording medium.
