A friction drive belt (B) includes a belt body () that is wrapped around pulleys in contact therewith to transmit power. At least a pulley contact portion () of the belt main body () is made of a rubber composition containing 30-80 parts by mass of at least one layered silicate selected from a smectite group and a vermiculite group, per 100 parts by mass of raw rubber containing an ethylene-&#x3b1;-olefin elastomer.

A vehicle periphery monitoring system is provided, in which by matching a behavior of a semitransparent tire image with an operation from a driver's viewpoint, a feeling of strangeness is reduced, an intuitive space perception is assisted and also a moving direction and a behavior of a vehicle can be easily perceived. In a side-view monitor system an image processing controller converts a real camera image including a blind spot into an image to be viewed from a driver's viewpoint to generate a blind spot image, and superimposes a semitransparent vehicle image which is obtained by making a vehicle viewed from the driver's viewpoint semitransparent and a semitransparent tire image which is obtained by making a tire semitransparent and displaying a behavior following a handle operation viewed from the driver's viewpoint on the blind spot image.

A friction drive belt has a pulley contact portion of a belt body, and at least the pulley contact portion is made of a rubber composition. Numerous pores are formed in a surface of the pulley contact portion of the belt body, and numerous small protrusions having an average height of 4-40 &#x3bc;m are formed to protrude from the surface.

In a friction transmission belt in which a compression rubber layer provided to an inner circumferential side of the belt body is wrapped over pulleys such that the compression rubber layer contacts the pulleys, such a configuration that both of a noise reduction and durability while the belt is running can be achieved is obtained. The compression rubber layer is configured so as not to include short fibers and so as to have a surface roughness, i.e., an Ra of at least a pulley contact surface of the compression rubber layer equal to or more than 3 &#x3bc;m.

Friction drive belt and method for fabricating the same

A power transmission belt comprises a compression rubber layer and an adhesion rubber layer both of which are formed of vulcanizate of an ethylene-a-olefin-diene rubber compound, with a preferred ethylene content of 55-85% in the compression rubber layer. A plurality of load carrying cords formed of fiber cords adhere to and embed in the adhesion rubber layer. The compression rubber layer has a modulus of elasticity in tension of a in the lengthwise direction of the belt and a modulus of elasticity in tension of b in the widthwise direction of the belt, and a and b satisfy the relationship: 0.9&#x2266;a/b&#x2266;1.2. The compression rubber layer may contain short fibers therein in an amount of not more than 5 parts by weight in relation to 100 parts by weight of the ethylene-a-olefin-diene rubber, used in such a manner that the fibers are oriented in the lengthwise direction of the belt.

Power transmission belt and process for production of the same

A frictional forced power transmission belt transmits power to a pulley with its belt body wound around and in contact with the pulley. At least a contact part of the belt body with a pulley is formed of a rubber composition which contains ethylene-&#x3b1;-olefin elastomer as a rubber component but contains substantially no short fibers and which has a rubber hardness of not less than 80 but less than 95 when measured with a type A durometer in conformity with JIS K6253.

Frictional forced power transmission belt and belt drive system with the same

A frictional forced power transmission belt transmits power to a pulley with its belt body wound around and in contact with the pulley. At least a contact part of the belt body with a pulley is formed of a rubber composition in which powdery or granular polyolefin resin is contained in ethylene-&#x3b1;-olefin elastomer.
