There is provided a resin composition, comprising an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer and a nonionic surfactant, wherein the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer has an ethylene unit content of 15 to 60 mol %, and a saponification degree of 90 mol % or more; the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer is contained as a major component; and the nonionic surfactant is contained at 3 to 400 ppm. The resin composition is produced by melt-kneading a mixture comprising the nonionic surfactant, water and the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer. By using the resin composition thus produced, a discharge amount during melt molding can be increased and a molded article with an excellent appearance can be provided.

The present invention provides a process for producing pellet of EVOH comprising the steps of introducing an EVOH solution containing alcohol into an apparatus, contacting the solution with water in the apparatus to let out the alcohol with water and then letting out an EVOH hydrous composition from the above-mentioned apparatus (step 1); cutting the EVOH hydrous composition let out therefrom to obtain EVOH hydrous composition pellets (step 2); introducing the obtained EVOH hydrous composition pellets into a dryer to reduce a water content thereof (step 3); melt-kneading the pellets, whose water content is reduced, in an extruder (step 4); and cutting EVOH discharged from the extruder to obtain the pellet of EVOH (step 5). Thus, the EVOH hydrous composition obtained by removing alcohol without deteriorating the environment can be efficiently dried, and pellets having less thermal degradation in drying and a uniform shape can be obtained.

The present invention provides a resin composition having an oxygen scavenging function. The resin composition comprises 70 to 99.9 wt % of a polyvinyl alcohol resin (A) and 0.1 to 30 wt % of a thermoplastic resin (B) other than the polyvinyl alcohol resin (A), wherein the thermoplastic resin (B) has a carbon-carbon double bond and a functional group including a hetero atom, and an oxygen absorption rate of the resin composition is 0.001 ml/m&#xb7;day or more.

To provide a resin composition comprising an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A) having an ethylene content of from 15 to 65 mol % and a degree of saponification of 95 mol % or more, a phosphoric acid salt (B) which can form a hydrate, and a dispersing agent (C), wherein the dispersing agent (C) comprises at least one species selected from the group consisting of aliphatic acid salts, glycerol aliphatic acid esters and aliphatic acid amides, the resin composition comprises (A) and (B) in amounts of from 50 to 99 parts by weight and from 1 to 50 parts by weight, respectively, based on 100 parts by weight of (A) and (B) in total, and the resin composition comprises (C) in an amount of from 1 to 20 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of (B). This resin composition excels in gas barrier property and also in moisture resistance at high temperatures and high humidities. Therefore, it is suitable for food packaging containers to be retorted.

The present invention relates to a coinjection stretch blow-molded container having a layer of thermoplastic polyester (A) that has specific properties and a layer of an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer resin composition (B) that includes specific minor components and has specific properties, and the thickness ratio of the layer of thermoplastic polyester (A) to the layer of an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer resin composition (B) (layer (A)/layer (B)) in the container body is in the specific range. The coinjection stretch blow molded container of the present invention has excellent gas barrier properties against, for example: oxygen and carbon dioxide; moisture-proofing properties; flavor-retention properties; flavor-barrier properties; and impact delamination resistance. The oxygen absorptive resin composition of the present invention includes: a thermoplastic resin (a) having carbon-carbon double bonds; a gas barrier resin (b) having an oxygen transmission rate of 500 ml&#xb7;20 &#x3bc;m/m&#xb7;day&#xb7;atm or less (20&#xb0; C. 65% RH); and a transition metal salt (c). This resin composition and molded articles formed using the resin composition effectively absorb and scavenge oxygen when used to package products susceptible to degradation by oxygen, such as foods and drinks.

Oxygen absorptive resin composition

The present invention provides a resin composition having an oxygen scavenging function. Resin composition and a multilayered container

The present invention provides a thermoplastic resin composition having excellent oxygen absorption property. This thermoplastic resin composition comprises a thermoplastic resin (A), a multilayered polymer particle (B) and a transition metal salt (C), wherein the multilayered polymer particle (B) has at least one oxygen absorption layer, the oxygen absorption layer comprises a diene polymer (B1) containing a conjugated diene monomer as a polymerization component, and the transition metal salt (C) is contained in an amount of 1 to 5000 ppm in terms of a metal element thereof.

Oxygen absorbing compositions and articles

Multi-layered, coinjection stretch-blow molded containers are obtained by stretch-blow molding a preform prepared by coinjection molding a polyester resin and an EVOH resin blend in which one of the EVOH resins is dispersed as particles in an EVOH resin matrix. Containers prepared with this EVOH blend have good impact delamination resistance, good gas-barrier properties, and high transparency is high, even without an adhesive layer. The EVOH blend is composed of two EVOH resins having different ethylene contents and degrees of saponification. The blend exhibits at least two crystal fusion peaks by DSC.

The oxygen resin composition of the present invention includes: a thermoplastic resin (a) having carbon-carbon double bonds; a gas barrier resin (b) having an oxygen transmission rate of 500 ml&middot;20 &mgr;m/m &middot;day&middot;atm or less (20&deg; C. 65% RH); and a transmission matel salt (c). This resin composition and molded articles formed using the resin composition effectively absorb and scavenge oxygen when used to package products susceptible to degradation by oxygen, such as foods and drinks.

The present invention provides a multilayered structure where an A layer made of an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer resin (A) and a C layer made of a polypropylene resin (C) are laminated via a B layer made of an adhesive resin (B). The ethylene content of the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer resin (A) is 20 to 60 mol %, and the saponification degree of the resin (A) is at least 90%. The melt flow rate (MFR) of the polypropylene resin (C) at 230&deg; C. under a load of 2160 g is in the range from 0.1 to 100 g/10 min, and the stereoregularity index &lsqb;M5&rsqb; of the polypropylene resin (C) is at least 0.950. Such a multilayered structure has excellent gas barrier properties and moldability.
