A process for producing an aliphatic polyester through ring-opening polymerization of a cyclic ester, wherein a partial polymer in a molten state is continuously introduced into a twin-screw stirring device to continuously obtain a partial polymer in a solid pulverized state, the partial polymer is subjected to solid-phase polymerization, and the resultant polymer is melt-kneaded together with a thermal stabilizer to be formed into pellets. An aromatic polyester resin composition, including: a melt-kneaded product of 99-70 wt. parts of an aromatic polyester resin and 1-30 wt. parts (providing a total of 100 wt. parts together with the aromatic polyester resin) of a polyglycolic acid resin, wherein the aromatic polyester resin is an aromatic polyester resin polymerized with a germanium compound (catalyst), and the polyglycolic acid resin is a polyglycolic acid resin obtained by ring-opening polymerization of glycolide. As a result, gas generation during the melt-processing of a composition obtained by adding a relatively small amount of polyglycolic acid resin to an aromatic polyester resin is effectively suppressed to provide an aromatic polyester resin composition with a good gas-barrier property.

In a production process of a poly(arylene sulfide), a mixture containing an organic amide solvent, an alkali metal hydrosulfide and an alkali metal hydroxide in a proportion of 0.95 to 1.05 mol per mol of the alkali metal hydrosulfide is heated and dehydrated in a dehydration step. After the dehydration step, as needed, an alkali metal hydroxide and water are added to control the total number of moles of the alkali metal hydroxide, and the number of moles of water so as to amount to 1.00 to 1.09 per mol of a sulfur source including the alkali metal hydrosulfide existing in the system and to 0.5 to 2.0 per mol of the charged sulfur source, respectively. A polymerization step is conducted by a two-stage process.

As a result, the aromatic polyester resin composition obtained by adding a relatively small amount of polyglycolic acid resin is provided with a good harmony of gas-barrier property and transparency.

A process for producing a poly(arylene sulfide) including a charging step 1 of preparing a charging mixture containing an organic amide solvent, a sulfur source, an alkali metal hydroxide, water and a dihalo-aromatic compound and having a pH of at least 12.5; a first-stage polymerization step 2 of heating the mixture to initiate a polymerization reaction, thereby forming a prepolymer that a conversion of the dihalo-aromatic compound is at least 50%; and a second-stage polymerization step 3 of adding a phase separation agent into the reaction system and adding an alkali metal hydroxide in an amount corresponding to 1 to 10 mol % per mol of the charged sulfur source at a time or in portions, thereby continuing the polymerization reaction.

Production process of poly(arylene sulfide)

There are provided a bottle which has a laminate structure including a glycolic acid polymer layer showing good gas-barrier property in addition to a principal resin layer and is yet provided with excellent recyclability, and also an efficient method of recycling the bottle. More specifically, a bottle having a laminate structure including at least one layer of glycolic acid polymer in addition to a principal resin layer, is obtained. After breaking the bottle, the broken pieces are washed with alkaline water, water or acidic water to remove the glycolic acid polymer layer, thereby recovering the principal resin.
