An arc quenching device, which is highly reliable, small-sized, and inexpensive, includes: a semiconductor switch connected in parallel to a first switch which is mechanical; a constant voltage circuit configured to use a voltage which is generated between both contact points of the first switch to output a voltage which causes the semiconductor switch to turn on; and a second timer circuit configured to cause the semiconductor switch to turn off after a predetermined time has elapsed since the semiconductor switch turned on.

Arc-quenching device for direct current switch

An arc quenching device, which prevents a load device from displaying an unnecessary behavior during starting of a power supply, includes: a semiconductor switch connected in parallel to a first switch which is mechanical; a power supply circuit configured to use a voltage which is generated between both contact points of the first switch to output a voltage which causes the semiconductor switch to turn on; and a second switch configured to cause its open state to prevent the semiconductor switch from turning on.

Provided is a switch that can be downsized. A switch is provided with a plunger, two upper torsion springs that bias the plunger in a returning direction, housing-side contacts, and plunger-side contacts. One of the upper torsion springs is arranged on one side of a plane that includes an axis passing through a central portion of the plunger, and that is perpendicular to perpendicular lines M connecting the plunger-side contacts and the axis, and the other one of the upper torsion springs is arranged on the other side of the plane.

Provided is a switch with excellent operability. A switch is provided with a plunger, a lower torsion spring in which a biasing direction changes according to the movement of the plunger. The lower torsion spring biases the plunger in a returning direction when the plunger is in a reference position, and biases the plunger in a direction different from the returning direction when the plunger is in an operation position.

Provided is a switch that can be downsized. A switch is provided with a plunger, and an upper torsion spring configured to bias the plunger in a returning direction. The torsion spring has a first arm that extends to the plunger and abuts against the plunger. The plunger has a hole at a position into which the first arm is inserted. The hole is a through hole extending in a direction that is perpendicular to a direction in which the plunger moves, and is the same as a direction in which the first arm extends when viewed in the direction in which the plunger moves.

Provided is a switch that can reliably bring contacts into contact with each other with a small load, and can be prevented from malfunctioning. A switch is provided with a plunger, a lower torsion spring in which a biasing direction changes according to the movement of the plunger. The lower torsion spring biases the plunger in an opposite direction to a returning direction when the plunger is in the operation position, and biases the plunger in a direction different from the opposite direction to the returning direction when the plunger is in the reference position.

An electrical connector has lead lines each having a core line and a cover layer each electrically connecting a connection terminal with a clamped part and a compression terminal both affixed to a main body. One end part of each lead line is affixed to the clamped part of a corresponding connecting terminal and the other end parts of the lead lines are pressed together simultaneously into corresponding ones of the compression terminals while the lead lines are supported by guide members having indentations such that the load on the clamped parts can be reduced as lead lines are forced into slits formed in the compression terminals and their cover layers are removed such that the core lines and the compression terminals come to contact each other.

Electrical connector and method of connecting lead lines therefor

Pitch that is obtained from a condensed polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon and the content of an optically anisotropic phase in which is substantially 100% is disclosed. This mesophase pitch has a H/C atomic ratio of 0.5-1.0, contains naphthenic carbon in an amount of at least 7% of the total carbon, and has a softening point of 180.degree.-400.degree. C. Fibers melt-spun from this mesophase pitch can be converted to carbon or graphite fibers having high strength and modulus of elasticity by a heat treatment which consists of heating to a temperature of 250.degree.-300.degree. C. in an air atmosphere, then heating to 1,000.degree. C. or higher in an inert gas atmosphere. Such mesophase pitch is produced by polymerizing a condensed polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon for 5-300 minutes at a temperature of 180.degree.-400.degree. C. and at a pressure of 5-100 atmospheres in the presence of 0.1-20 moles of HF and 0.05-1 mole of BF.sub.3 per mole of the condensed polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon.

Mesophase pitch for use in the making of carbon materials and process

A process for producing pitch useful as a starting material for the manufacture of a carbon material is provided. The pitch is produced by polymerizing a condensed nuclear aromatic compound or a material containing the same. The polymerization is carried out in the presence of a hydrogen fluoride/boron trifluoride catalyst system. The condensed nuclear aromatic compounds which may be used in this process are naphthalene, anthracene, phenanthrene, acenaphthene, acenaphthylene, pyrene and mixtures thereof.
