This method of manufacturing a stator includes a step of removing insulating coatings on first surfaces of lead wire portions that are surfaces to be welded, and a step of welding together the first surfaces by a green laser with the insulating coatings on the first surfaces being removed and with insulating coatings on second surfaces opposite the first surfaces being unremoved.

A conductor wire insulating film separating method disclosed includes: a preparing step involving preparing rectangular cross-section coil pieces each of which is a conductor wire coated with insulating film and used to provide a stator coil of rotary electric machine; a delivering-in step involving, after the preparing step, delivering coil pieces into a laser separator, with coil pieces aligned such that extremities thereof are adjacent to each other; an applying step involving, after the delivering-in step, continuously applying film removing laser to the extremities of the aligned coil pieces such that the laser is applied to one extremity and then to another extremity, thus removing at least portions of the insulating film from the extremities of the coil pieces; and a delivering-out step involving delivering the coil pieces, from which the at least portions of the insulating film have been removed by the applying step, out of the laser separator.

A differential device includes a differential case () that has a flange portion () and a differential ring gear () that has a tooth portion, a fixed and supported portion (), and a coupling portion. The differential case () has a first abutting surface () and a restricting portion (). The differential ring gear () has a second abutting surface () and an abutting portion (). A welding portion that is formed by welding the flange portion () of the differential case () and the fixed and supported portion () of the differential ring gear () is disposed at a position that is different from an abutting part between the first abutting surface () and the second abutting surface () and an abutting part between the restricting portion () and the abutting portion ().

Differential device

A first abutting surface, a first welding surface, a first facing surface are formed in a differential case. A second abutting surface, a second welding surface, and a second facing surface are formed in a differential ring gear. In an installing step, the first abutting surface and the second abutting surface are inserted, positions of the differential case and the differential ring gear are determined in an axial direction, a separation portion that spaces the first welding surface and the second welding surface away from each other and that has a non-linear portion is formed, and a void is formed between the first facing surface and the second facing surface. In a welding step, a laser is irradiated to the separation portion and the first welding surface and the second welding surface are welded.
