An output shaft of a power unit having a driven gear for supplying a power of an internal combustion engine via a transmission mechanism and for outputting the power to an outside of a unit case. Borne members are connected respectively at each end of a cylindrical member of the output shaft. The borne members are rotatably supported by the unit case via a pair of bearings. The driven gear is fitted to one of the borne members in a position adjacent to one of the bearings. As a result, the output shaft of the power unit can be manufactured by a compact manufacturing apparatus, and the output shaft can be reduced in weight while maintaining the strength.

A valve seat, press-fitted into a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine, containing an iron-based sintered alloy, includes a valve-seating section and a head-seating section. The valve-seating section and the head-seating section are monolithically formed by a sintering process and form a double layer structure. The valve-seating section includes a first iron-based sintered alloy member that has a porosity of 10 to 25 percent by volume and a sintered density of 6.1 to 7.1 g/cmand contains hard particles dispersed in a matrix. The head-seating section includes a second iron-based sintered alloy member that has a porosity of 10 to 20 percent by volume and a sintered density of 6.4 to 7.1 g/cm.

Sintered alloy valve seat and method for manufacturing the same

To provide an aluminum alloy member having a high machinability while keeping a sufficient mechanical strength and a sufficient wear resistance, and a method of producing the aluminum alloy member. In an aluminum alloy member formed from an aluminum-silicon alloy by casting, eutectic silicon grains are exposed from at least part of an exposed plane of the aluminum alloy member. A coating layer having a thickness nearly equal to or thinner than a diameter of each of the eutectic silicon grains is formed on the exposed plane from which the eutectic silicon grains are exposed.
