There is provided an ophthalmic preparation comprising a fat emulsion containing flurbiprofen or its derivative such as ester as an active ingredient.

Flurbiprofen derivative ophthalmic preparation

A fat emulsion containing a prostaglandin E.sub.1 alkyl ester represented by the general formula ##STR1## wherein R denotes an alkyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms. The fat emulsion can be administered intravenously, has a long half-life of its effective ingredient, prostaglandin E.sub.1 alkyl ester, in the living body as well as a focus selectivity.

There is provided a fat emulsion of an ester of flurbiprofen having the formula ##STR1## wherein R is a group of the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1 is a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl group, R.sub.2 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.15 alkyl group or a C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 alkenyl group, and m is zero or an integer of 1; or a lactone group of the formula ##STR3## wherein R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are same as or different from each other and are a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl group, and n is an integer of 1 or 2. The emulsion containing particles of a vegetable oil dissolving the ester can be orally or parenterally administered to human or animal for analgesia, antiphlogosis and antipyresis in various diseases and exhibits a high activity with small amounts in terms of flurbiprofen as compared with flurbiprofen itself.

A fat emulsion for injection containing prostaglandin E.sub.1 which has a vasodilative action as well as a hypotensive action and a method for the production of such an emulsion. The present emulsion is effective in treating chronic arteriostenosis diseases.

Fat emulsion containing prostaglandin E.sub.1 and method for production

A stable fat emulsion having low side effects, which is suitable as nutritive infusion fluid for intravenous injection, is provided. The emulsion contains 5-50 (W/V) % of soybean oil, yolk phospholipids in a weight ratio to the soybean oil of 1/4-1/25, 0.01-0.30 (W/V) % of a fatty acid or salt thereof having 12-20 carbon atoms and the balance of water.

Fat emulsion for intravenous injection

An organ to be transplanted, such as kidney, can effectively be preserved by perfusion for a considerably long time by the use of a perfusate which is made by mixing a Ringer's solution modified by increasing potassium ion to 8-20 meq/l, a stable perfluorocarbon compound emulsion and albumin, so that the concentration of the perfluorocarbon compound is 7.5 to 12.5% (W/V) and that of albumin is 1-8% (W/V) based on the perfusate.

A method for preparing a vegetable oil labelled with .sup.14 C or .sup.3 H, characterized by transesterifying a vegetable oil with at least one of the chemically same fatty acids labelled with .sup.14 C or .sup.3 H as those constituting said vegetable oil. The resulting labelled vegetable oil can be used in measuring biological metabolic activity of man or an animal or as a biological tracer reagent.
