A hydraulic pressure control device in a vehicle anti-skid braking system includes a brake master cylinder, a wheel brake actuating cylinder for braking a wheel in response to a fluid pressure from the brake master cylinder, and a directional control valve actuatable in response to a control signal from a control unit which detects a wheel condition such as wheel skidding, for returning a braking fluid from the wheel brake actuating cylinder via a return passage to a fluid pressure supply passage connected to the master cylinder. The return passage has an accumulator for storing part of the fluid from the wheel brake actuating cylinder in an anti-skid control mode. A fluid overflow from the accumulator is delivered via a restriction in the supply passage to the master cylinder to act on the brake pedal as a pedal reaction.

Hydraulic pressure control device for use in vehicle anti-skid braking

A hydraulic pressure control device in a vehicle anti-skid braking system includes a brake master cylinder, a wheel brake actuating cylinder for braking a wheel in response to a fluid pressure from the brake master cylinder, a directional control valve actuatable in response to a signal from a control unit which detects a wheel condition such as wheel skidding, and a pressure control valve for disconnecting the brake master cylinder from a fluid pressure supply passage when a fluid pressure is supplied from the wheel brake actuating cylinder into a fluid pressure return passage connected to the pressure control valve when the directional control valve is actuated.

An anti-skid brake system for a brake cylinder of a vehicle, comprising: a primary fluid passage for connecting a master cylinder to the brake cylinder; a solenoid-operated directional control valve disposed in the primary fluid passage for communication of the brake cylinder selectively with the master cylinder or a brake fluid reservoir; a control device sensing a skidding condition of a wheel at which the brake cylinder is disposed, and controlling the directional control valve according to the sensed skidding condition of the wheel; a restrictor disposed in the primary fluid passage in series connection with the directional control valve; and a shut-off valve disposed in the primary fluid passage in parallel connection with the restrictor and controlled by the control device, the shut-off valve being normally placed in its open position, and brought into its closed position at the time when the control device has started to activate the directional control valve for preventing the wheel from skidding. The directional control valve and the shut-off valve are mounted in the same housing and are operated by a single, common solenoid.

Anti-skid brake system

A hydraulic pressure control device in a vehicle anti-skid braking system includes a wheel brake actuating cylinder for braking a vehicle wheel, a fluid pressure supply passage connected between a master cylinder and the wheel brake actuating cylinder and having a restriction, and a first directional control valve disposed in the fluid pressure supply passage and having at least pressure-increasing and pressure-decreasing modes, the first directional control valve being normally in the pressure-increasing mode to connect the master cylinder to the fluid pressure supply passage. A second directional control valve is connected between the master cylinder and the wheel brake actuating cylinder, the second directional control valve being normally open to provide a bypass passage across the first directional control valve to connect the master cylinder passage to the wheel brake actuating cylinder. A control unit is responsive to a decelerating condition of the vehicle wheel for actuating the first directional control valve into the pressure-decreasing mode and for actuating the second directional control valve to shut off the bypass passage.

A regulator valve for a hydraulic anti-skid apparatus and which includes a housing provided with a first inlet port for connection to a fluid pump and the anti-skid apparatus, a second inlet port for connection to a master cylinder, and an outlet port for connection to a fluid reservoir, a regulator piston reciprocably disposed within the housing to form a first fluid chamber in open communication with the first inlet and outlet ports and a second fluid chamber in open communication with the second inlet port, and a spring loaded annular valve seat member arranged within the first fluid chamber to cooperate with a valve part of the piston so as to control the fluid flow from the first inlet port to the outlet port in response to the difference in pressure between the fluid chambers. A support member is arranged within the first fluid chamber formed therein with an axial bore in which a large diameter portion of the piston is slidably disposed to form a third annular fluid chamber. The support member is further formed with an orifice for effecting the fluid flow between the first and third fluid chambers in response to axial movement of the piston.

In an anti-skid braking apparatus for vehicles of the type having a fluid-pressure control valve arranged between a master cylinder and a wheel cylinder for controlling the brake fluid pressure within the wheel cylinder, when it is detected that the vehicle stops, the fluid-pressure control valve is controlled so as to assume a pressure-maintaining mode and a pressure-increasing mode alternately for a predetermined period of time as long as the brake pedal is continuously depressed. As a result, the pressure of the fluid increases stepwise preventing the occurrence of uncomfortable kickback at the brake pedal.

An air collecting portion is formed at the frontwardly open vent opening, gradually expanding in the air flowing area in the frontward direction of the vehicle. The air collected by the air collecting portion is allowed to pass rearwardly through the dustcover right along the lower half portion of the rotor for cooling it.

This manufacturing method comprises as least the following two processes: (a) forming a flat plate-like portion partially on a length of a tube while producing a through bore therein as a displaced space, by inserting a mandrel substantially concentrically into a tube material, pressing or squeezing a portion of the tube in the diametrical direction in such a manner that the inside of the tube is pressed onto the mandrel for producing the displaced space therein, after retracting the mandrel until the inside surface of the tube at upper and lower portion thereof on either side of the displaced space closely contact to each other; and (b) forming a cut-out, ranging from the extremity of the tube to a part of the flattened portion, such that the through bore can have the opening thereof at the bottom of the cut-out to be able to engage with the web portion of a brake shoe.

The piston of a brake control valve assembly is balanced, during normal front hydraulic system operations, at a predetermined position to allow pressurized brake fluid from a rear master cylinder to flow into a rear wheel cylinder from between a head flange and a seal valve with a predetermined pressure. When the braking operation is sought during trouble or failure in the front hydraulic system, the piston loses its regulated balance and moves, together with a piston sleeve and the seal valve so that the effective area for receiving brake fluid pressure from a rear master cylinder becomes greater than that of the rear wheel cylinder thereby to increase brake fluid pressure transmitted to the rear wheel cylinder. The present invention features particularly the improvement, or reversewise utilization, of the conventional proportioning valve mechanism to permit a very rational brake fluid pressure boosting operation.
