An oscillation circuit comprises a SAW resonator having a pair of reflectors disposed on a piezoelectric substrate and a pair of IDTs which are set up in parallel between the pair of reflectors and which are constituted by teeth-of-a-comb electrodes; an inverter to which the pair of IDTs are connected in parallel; and a change-over unit which is provided between each of a pair of the teeth-of-a-comb electrodes constituting either of the IDTs of the pair of IDTs and the inverter and which changes over and connects an input side and an output side of the inverter connected to each of the pair of the teeth-of-a-comb electrodes.

A voltage controlled oscillating means in a clock converter outputs a positive feedback signal for a positive feedback loop from one output terminal of buffer means forming a portion of a positive feedback loop using voltage controlled phase shifting means and outputs a PLL feedback signal from the other output terminal of the buffer means. The PLL feedback signal is fed back to phase detector means through a signal transmitting circuit. As a result, it is possible to form a PLL feedback loop, which is not affected by the load to thus output a stable clock signal of high frequency. Furthermore, it is possible to realize a small clock converter by narrowing the line width of a wiring pattern in the signal transmitting circuit.

A piezoelectric resonator is formed with a case and a stem for housing the piezoelectric vibrating portion thereof. The case and stem are coupled by press-fitting and the interface is coated with a high temperature solder containing at least 90% lead. An inner lead of the resonator is also coated with the solder and a portion of the vibrator is fixed to the lead by melting the solder. Alternative constructions employ a resin case or a metallic plate case and a configuration in which an integrated circuit and a piezoelectric vibrator are integrally molded to achieve a highly desirable mounting configuration.
