A recording apparatus includes a carriage equipped with a recording head that ejects ink to a sheet, a drive unit configured to move the carriage in a width direction of the sheet, an encoder configured to detect first information regarding a position or a velocity of the carriage that moves by the drive unit, an acceleration sensor arranged on the carriage and configured to detect second information regarding acceleration of the carriage, and a control unit configured to stop the carriage, based on the first information and the second information.

Ink jet recording apparatus

An electronic apparatus capable of preventing keytops or a pointing stick from protruding from a chassis top surface when not being in use is disclosed. The electronic apparatus includes a set of keytops each movable up and down between a first position to which the keytop ascends by a biasing force of a rubber dome and a second position to which the keytop descends against the biasing force; a set of drive members each extend along the left-right direction, each movable in the left-right direction relative to the keytops; a link member connecting adjacent drive members to enable coordinated operation; and a drive mechanism that moves one of the drive members connected by the link member.

Apparatus for preventing keytops from protruding from a top surface of an electronic apparatus

A viewing angle changing film capable of changing the viewing angle of a display panel is provided. The viewing angle changing film includes a base film opposed to a display panel, and an attachment having a thickness smaller than a thickness of the base film. The base film can change the viewing angle of the display panel. The attachment is inserted into air gap defined between the display panel and a bezel. The attachment is a separate member from the base film, and is fixed to the base film.

An electronic apparatus having a thinner chassis by pressing keycaps and capable of avoiding an erroneous motion or an erroneous input. An electronic apparatus includes: a key-position setting mechanism configured to interlock with a rotation of a display chassis and a main body chassis via a hinge mechanism to move keycaps from a first position to a second position; and a controller configured to enable a key input signal from the keycaps when the keycaps are at least at the first position and to disable a key input signal from the keycaps when the key-position setting mechanism moves the keycaps to the second position.

Electronic apparatus

An instrument eject system includes a device configured to store an instrument at a storage location within the device. A cover is rotationally coupled to a base via hinge. An ejection element is configured to impose an ejecting force on the instrument when the instrument is stored within the device. A retaining element is configured to retain the instrument within the device in a lock position of the retaining element and to release the instrument in a release position of the retaining element.

In an embodiment there is provided an electronic apparatus in which two housings are detachable and rotatable, and in which when one housing is detached from the other housing, and having a bracket for attachment and detachment that is easily rotated. An electronic apparatus may include an upper housing having a display; a lower housing which is rotatably connected with a bracket from which the upper housing is detachable by hinges; and a torque variable structure which changes rotational torque of the bracket at the hinges. The torque variable structure is capable of reducing the rotational torque of the bracket at the hinges in a state in which the upper housing is detached from the bracket, rather than a state in which the upper housing is mounted on the bracket.

An embodiment provides an electronic device, including: a detachable display portion; a base body; the base body including an attachment portion to which the detachable display portion attaches; the attachment portion being located a depth from a rear edge of the base body; and a cover extending from a point of the base body behind the attachment portion and proximate to the rear edge of the base body.

An extendable electronic stylus is described. The extendable electronic stylus has a distal end that provides an electronic input to an electronic device and a first cam with an elongated member that extends between a proximal end of the stylus and its distal end. The stylus also includes a second cam that rotates relative to the first cam when the proximal end of the stylus is pushed in a distal direction. The pushing of the proximal end of the stylus causes a surface of the second cam to contact the first cam surface. The stylus also includes a cover with a first look surface. The rotation of the second cam relative to the first cam cause a second lock surface of the second cam to abut the first lock surface, thereby locking the second cam in a fixed position relative to the first cam.

Expandable electronic stylus

A laptop personal computer (PC) is disclosed. The laptop PC includes a hinge unit that turns around a vertical axis and rotates around a horizontal axis, and the hinge unit connects a main body chassis to a display chassis. The hinge unit includes an inside, through which cables connecting a main body and a display pass. A path is provided, along which the cables are installed, and the path includes a part that is parallel to the vertical axis and is apart from the vertical axis and having a part overlapping with the horizontal axis towards the vertical axis. The cover is provided at the display chassis for covering the cables overlapping with the horizontal axis. This can eliminate the necessity of a cover for the cables on the side of the hinge unit, thus making the laptop PC thinner.

Some embodiments of the present invention include a portable tablet folio stand that is designed for use in multiple modes. The stand can allow a user to view the tablet from multiple angles, such as a movie viewing angle and a working angle. In the movie viewing angle, the tablet is optimally positioned for viewing the tablet screen, for instance to watch videos. In the working angle, the tablet is optimally positioned for performing tasks such as typing on the tablet. In some embodiments, the tablet stand can be configured to be portable and detachably coupled to a keyboard.

An assembly can include a first component; a second component; and an interconnection mechanism for pivotable interconnection of the first component and the second component about a pivot axis where the interconnection mechanism includes a latch mechanism to latch the second component to the interconnection mechanism, an actuator to unlatch the latch mechanism, an obstruction to obstruct actuation of the actuator, and a sliding bar slidable in a first direction to move the obstruction to an obstructing position that obstructs actuation of the actuator and slidable in a second direction to move the obstruction to an unobstructing position that permits actuation of the actuator. Various other apparatuses, systems, methods, etc., are also disclosed.

Locking mechanism

Described is an illumination structure suitable for a keyboard light of a portable computer. An example illumination structure includes a transparent acrylic board, a light source, and a light guide. The acrylic board may have a front surface and a rear surface, each of which is flat. The light source is provided at a tilt angle q at which an optical axis is almost at a critical angle with respect to the rear surface of the acrylic board. The light guide is located between the light source and the rear surface. Further, light rays radiated from the light source are refracted by the light guide and the optically-transparent panel, and travel towards the front surface, so as to illuminate the surface.

Portable computer illumination

A drainage system is provided for draining liquid accidentally spilled on a casing having a plurality of pushbuttons on a surface of the casing. An electronic apparatus may comprise a casing and a drainage system. The drainage system may be connected with the casing. The drainage system may include a liquid collecting basin, a drainage exit, and a liquid passageway. The liquid passageway may have a capillary surface and may lead the liquid from the liquid collecting basin to the drainage exit.

Groove slit water channel

In an image reading apparatus which can read a transparent original and reflection original, a white background is formed like a sheet. The image reading apparatus is arranged to be movable by a pair of rollers which rotate using, e.g., the driving source of an original feeder. To read a transparent original, the white sheet is moved by the pair of rollers to a position where a transparent original reading illumination unit is exposed. This makes it possible to eliminate trouble in detaching the white background mounted on the back of an original platen in accordance with the type of an original to be read.

Image reading apparatus and image printing apparatus using the same

Images obtained by prescanning a transparent original by an image reading apparatus are output from a printing apparatus as a navigation sheet on which the images are laid out together with additional information fields. The navigation sheet containing additional information is read, and the additional information is recognized. The transparent original which is left after prescanning is scanned, and printing is performed on the basis of the recognized additional information. This makes it possible to print out a desired image under desired conditions from the transparent original, in which a plurality of images are recorded, by operating a single apparatus without any external device such as a host computer.
