The multilayer container of the present invention comprises an outermost layer, an innermost layer and at least one intermediate layer interposed between the outermost layer and the innermost layer. Each of the outermost and innermost layers is mainly made of a thermoplastic polyester resin A produced by polymerizing a dicarboxylic acid component comprising 80 mol % or higher of terephthalic acid with a diol component comprising 80 mol % or higher of ethylene glycol. At least one of the intermediate layers is mainly made of a mixed resin B of a polyamide resin C and a polyamide resin D in a mixing ratio of 99.5/0.5 to 80/20 by weight. The polyamide resin C is produced by polymerizing a diamine component comprising 70 mol % or higher of m-xylylenediamine with a dicarboxylic acid component comprising 70 mol % or higher of adipic acid. The polyamide resin D has a solubility index satisfying the formula (1):Sa&#x3c;Sd&#x3c;Sc&#x2003;&#x2003;(1)wherein each of Sa, Sb and Sd is a solubility index, calculated by Small method, of the thermoplastic polyester resin A, the polyamide resin C and the polyamide resin D. The polyamide resin D has a glass transition temperature of 130&#xb0; C. or lower which is higher than that of the polyamide resin C. The multilayer container is excellent in gas-barrier property and resistant to delamination even when its shape includes indented and bending portions, allowing a broad design latitude.

A stretched polyamide film including at least one stretched layer made of a mixed resin containing a polyamide resin and a modified polyester-based elastomer Y. The polyamide resin X is mainly constituted by m-xylylenediamine unit and C&#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-aliphatic dicarboxylic acid unit. The modified polyester-based elastomer is graft-modified with an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride. Such stretched polyamide film is drastically improved in the flexibility, impact resistance and pin-hole resistance with little reduction in the gas-barrier properties while retaining an enough transparency to practical use.

A stretched polyamide film obtained by melt-kneading and extruding a mixed resin (Z) containing a polyamide resin (X) and a modified resin (Y) into a film followed by biaxial stretching, wherein the polyamide resin (X) is obtained from a diamine component containing not less than 70 mol % of a metaxylylenediamine and from a dicarboxylic acid component containing not less than 70 mol % of an &agr;, &ohgr;-aliphatic dicarboxylic acid having 6 to 12 carbon atoms; the modified resin (Y) is obtained by graft-modifying an ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer resin with a maleic anhydride; and the mixed resin (Z) contains from 80 to 99% by weight of the polyamide and from 20 to 1% by weight of the modified resin. The stretched film exhibits not only excellent transparency and gas-barring property but also excellent flexibility and shock resistance.
