An endoscope includes a distal end portion in which an optical unit and a treatment instrument channel are held such that a photographing optical axis, a central axis of the distal end portion, and a central axis of the treatment instrument channel are linearly aligned When viewed from an end face of the distal end portion. A distal end unit of an endoscope includes: a distal end frame body that is constituted by a resin molded article configuring a molded interconnect device, that is provided with an image pickup unit containing room, and that is provided with an observation opening portion that opens the image pickup unit containing room on a distal end surface exposed to an exterior; a metal layer that is provided along a flat surface of the observation opening portion; a cover glass that closes the observation opening portion; a solder layer that is bonded to the metal layer and that holds the cover glass on the distal end frame body; and an adhesive layer that covers the solder layer, the metal layer is provided at a position corresponding to a groove provided on the flat surface, and the solder layer is disposed in an interior of the groove.

The disclosed technology is directed to an endoscopic apparatus comprises an endoscope having a cable connected to an electronic circuit part of the endoscope. The cable includes an elongated covering and an elongated component configured to be concentrically engaged with the elongated covering. A securing member is used to bind and to secure the elongated covering and the elongated component to one another. The elongated covering includes at least one recess formed on an outer circumferential area of the elongated covering on which the securing member binds and secures the elongated covering. The securing member has a portion that sinks in the at least one recess and secures the elongated covering and the elongated component that is exposed through the at least one recess.

An image pickup unit according to the present invention, includes a solid-state image pickup device provided with a light receiving portion for receiving photographing light refracted and reflected by a reflection surface of an optical reflection member. The image pickup unit also includes a protection member which is surface-joined to and to protect at least the area of an effective reflection surface within the reflection surface by which the photographing light is refracted and made incident on the light receiving portion. Thereby, when the image pickup unit is provided in an electronic endoscope including the optical component for refracting and reflecting the photographing light, it is possible to improve the assembling property of the image pickup unit including the optical component, and possible to prevent the optical component from being damaged under various environment.
