A seal cap is formed of an elastically deformable material and includes a cap portion that closes a passage port, a grip portion that can be grasped, and a joining portion which integrally joins the cap portion and the grip portion. The joining portion has a bolt insertion portion through which a stud bolt can be inserted. The grip portion is formed on a side of the bolt insertion portion that corresponds to the cap portion. The joining portion is formed between the bolt insertion portion and the cap portion and is provided with a cut which communicates with the bolt insertion portion. The cut allows the cap portion to be bent and deformed by the contact between the cap portion and the stud bolt during pulling out of the seal cap from a connection portion.

Seal cap

A fluid passage closure system in a compressor includes a fluid passage, a seal cap unit and a flow space. The fluid passage formed in the housing of the compressor includes a large-diameter and the small-diameter passages, a step formed between the large-diameter and the small-diameter passages and a flat portion formed in the step. The large-diameter passage is formed on the opening side of the fluid passage and connected to the small-diameter passage. The seal cap unit closing the fluid passage includes a flat sealing surface and a press-contact surface. The flat sealing surface is in contact with the flat portion to close the fluid passage. The press-contact surface is formed to be pressed against the peripheral wall surface so that the seal cap unit is kept in the fluid passage. The flow space is formed between the press-contact surface and the peripheral wall surface.

Fluid passage closure system in compressor

A compressor has a suction muffler structure capable of reducing vibration and noise accompanying liquid compression. The suction muffler structure involves a muffler chamber defined between a suction chamber of the compressor and an external coolant circuit. A suction passage connects the muffler chamber to the suction chamber. A liquid-storage space is formed in the region of the muffler chamber lower than the inlet of the suction passage to the muffler chamber.

A compressor has a cam plate located in a crank chamber and mounted on a drive shaft and a piston coupled to the cam plate and located in a cylinder bore. The piston compresses gas supplied to the cylinder bore from a separate external circuit by way of a suction chamber and discharges the compressed gas to the external circuit by way of a discharge chamber. The cam plate is tiltable between a maximum inclined angle position and a minimum inclined angle position with respect to a plane perpendicular to an axis of the drive shaft according to a difference between the pressure in the crank chamber and the pressure in the cylinder bore. The piston moves by the stroke based on an inclination of the cam plate to control the displacement of the compressor. A valve is placed between the discharge chamber and the external circuit. The valve selectively connects and disconnects the discharge chamber with the external circuit based on a difference between the pressure acting on the upstream side of the valve and the pressure acting on the downstream side of the valve.

Valve arrangement at the discharge chamber of a variable displacement compressor

A drive plate or lug plate is supported on a drive shaft for integral rotation therewith. A cam plate is coupled to the lug plate by a hinge mechanism to integrally rotate with the drive shaft and tilt with respect to the axis of the drive shaft. The cam plate is coupled to a piston to convert the rotation of the drive shaft into linear reciprocating movement of the piston in a cylinder to compress gas supplied from an external circuit and to discharge the compressed gas outward from the cylinder. The hinge mechanism has a first guide pin projecting to the lug plate from the cam plate, a second guide pin projecting to the lug plate from the cam plate in a position following the first guide pin which is the leading pin with respect to the direction of rotation of the drive shalt, a first guide hole formed in a support arm projecting from the lug plate to receive the first guide pin and a second guide hole formed in a second support arm projecting from the drive plate to receive the second guide pin. The first guide hole is located in a position offset from the second guide hole away from the rear surface of the lug plate by a distance which corresponds to the amount of movement of the cam plate and first guide pin caused by compression reaction on the piston during the compression stroke.

Variable displacement compressor

An electromagnetic control valve is provided. The control stability of the electromagnetic control valve is improved because: (1) one end of the guide pin is forced into and then secured in a hole formed in the center of the coil guide so that the plunger moves in the center of the suction portion; (2) one end of the connecting rod is forced into and then secured in a hole formed in the center of the plunger, and a guide portion for guiding the connecting rod is provided in the center of the upper main body; or (3) the connecting rod is forced into and then secured in a hole formed in the center of the plunger, and a first guide portion for guiding the connecting rod is provided at the lower end of the coil guide and/or a second guide portion for guiding the connecting rod is provided at the lower end of the upper main body.

Electromagnetic control valve

A housing of a compressor has a shutter chamber for accommodating a shutter. The shutter moves between a closed position, where the shutter stops flow of gas from an external circuit into a suction chamber, and an open position, where the shutter permits the gas flow in response to the tilting motion of a swash plate. A coil spring, which has a conical shape, is located in the shutter chamber to bias the shutter in a direction toward the open position from the closed position. The spring is arranged to prevent the spring from sliding against the inner wall of the shutter chamber when the spring is expanded or contracted by movement of the shutter member.

A variable displacement type compressor is disclosed. The compressor includes a housing, a cylinder bore within the housing, a piston located in the cylinder bore, a drive shaft rotatably supported by the housing, a rotary support mounted on the drive shaft, and a cam plate connected to the piston. The cam plate is supported tiltably on the drive shaft and is slidable in axial directions of the drive shaft. The cam plate inclines between a maximum inclination position and a minimum inclination position when the displacement of the compressor is changed. A first moment is applied to the cam plate by a compression reaction force of the piston when the compressor is operating. A hinge mechanism is located between the rotary support and the cam plate. The cam plate is rotated integrally with the drive shaft, the rotary support, and the hinge mechanism. An urging device is located between the rotary support and the cam plate for urging the cam plate toward the minimum go inclination angle position An applying mechanism applies a second moment to the swash plate in the same direction as the first moment when the compressor is not operating.

Variable displacement compressor and method for controlling the same

A variable displacement type compressor having a piston accommodated in a cylinder bore, a swash plate accommodated in a crank chamber for reciprocating the piston and a drive shaft for tiltably and rotatably supporting the swash plate. The swash plate includes projections that extend toward a thrust bearing and have outer surfaces that contact the thrust bearing. A shaft hole within which the drive shaft is located between the projections. The shaft hole has an opening that opens adjacent to the projections. A recess is formed at the end of the shaft hole adjacent to the projections. A hardening method is performed on the wall of the through hole and on the outer surfaces of the projections to improve wear resistance. The hardening method prevents overheating of localized areas of the swash plate.

Variable displacement compressor, swash plate, and method for hardening

A control valve in a variable displacement compressor is disclosed. The compressor adjusts the discharge displacement based on control of the inclination of a swash plate located in a crank chamber. The compressor includes a supply passage for connecting a discharge chamber with the crank chamber to supply the gas from the discharge chamber to the crank chamber and a bleeding passage for connecting the crank chamber with a suction chamber to release the gas from the crank chamber to the suction chamber. The control valve includes a first valve mechanism for selectively opening and closing the supply passage, a second valve mechanism for adjusting the flow rate of the gas released from the crank chamber to the suction chamber through the bleeding passage, and a solenoid mechanism for actuating the first valve mechanism and the second valve mechanism. The first valve mechanism and the second valve mechanism operate independently. The first valve mechanism, the second valve mechanism and the solenoid mechanism are retained in a single housing.
