It is found that alloys including amorphous phase comprising at least a first element selected from the group consisting of Pt and Ru, at least a second element selected from the group consisting of Zr, Hf, Si, Ir, Ru, Pd and Ni, and at least a third element selected from the group consisting of Si, Cu, Cr, Fe, Mo, Co, Al, Zr, Hf, Ni and Ru have excellent machining characteristics, heat-resistant characteristics, corrosion resistance and adhesion resistance. Using the alloys as the molding surface of a die, a heat resistant molding die for forming glass optical device having fine structure for performing high definite functions became possible to manufacture with excellent machining characteristics.

A method for preparing a stimulable phosphor is disclosed, comprising forming a stimulable phosphor and coating the formed stimulable phosphor with a metal oxide and a silane coupling agent, or a metal oxide and a metal alkoxide. Another method is also disclosed, comprising forming a stimulable phosphor precursor, calcining the formed precursor in the presence of a metal oxide or metal alkoxide, and coating the calcined precursor with a silane coupling agent or metal alkoxide. A preparation method of an oxygen-introduced stimulable phosphor including a rare earth activated alkaline earth metal fluorohalide stimulable phosphor is disclosed, comprising the steps of heating a precursor of a stimulable phosphor in an atmosphere containing oxygen, and further heating the heated precursor in a weakly reducing atmosphere. Stimulable phosphors prepared by this method and a radiation image conversion panel by use thereof are also disclosed.
