A surface-modified wholly aromatic polyamide fiber having an enhanced bonding property, surface tenacity and durability and a reduced friction, comprises a fiber matrix of a wholly aromatic polyamide material, fine particles of a cation-exchanging inorganic material distributed on and in a surface portion of the matrix and an additive comprising a cationic organic compound or a multi-functional organic silicone compounds, and attached to the fine organic particles.

A novel method is provided for treating metallic or ceramic surfaces (hot plates, metallic molds and the like) at a high temperature of 200.degree. C. or above, wherein organic treating agents (finishes, release agents and the like) will not form a tar or sludge. According to this method, the continuous operation can be conducted due to neither staining on the metallic surfaces nor stop of the machine for a heater cleaning. Examples of the organic treating agents to be used include a polyalkylene glycol thermally decomposable at 150.degree. C. or above in air and a fluorine-containing compound, preferably the nonionic type, having a fluoroalkyl group in the molecule.

Method for treating metallic or ceramic surfaces at high temperatures

A yarn treating composition useful for application to a filamentary yarn for high-speed friction draw-false twisting. This composition comprises substantially a polyether having a molar copolymerization ratio between propylene and ethylene oxides of 35:65-90:10 and an average molecular weight of 1,000 to 15,000, and small amounts of anionic compounds. The anionic compounds are used in the form of a mixture of salts of specific dicarboxylic acid derivatives with phosphate compounds and/or sulfonate compounds. The application of said treating composition to yarns provides a reduction of fluctuation in friction between the yarns and rollers, guides, etc. and of frictional resistance at a high running speed, improvement in threading property in false twisting, and a sharp decrease in scum deposits on heaters.
