Provided is a filling apparatus including: a conveyor line configured to intermittently convey spout-equipped bags, which are suspended so that spouts protruding from one side of the spout-equipped bags, the bags being flat, are located on an upper side and the bags are located on a lower side, in a width direction of the suspended spout-equipped bags on a movement straight line; a printing apparatus disposed in the middle of the conveyor line and configured to print manufacturing information on the suspended spout-equipped bags; and nozzles configured to fill the suspended spout-equipped bags with a liquid material through the spouts. The conveyor line is further configured to convey the spout-equipped bags so that fronts of the spout-equipped bags directly face the printing apparatus.

In an approach to automatically reconciling data in HSM without affecting system performance, responsive to migrating a file on a hierarchical storage system from a primary storage to one or more tape drives, one or more file migration records are recorded in a reconcile database. Responsive to the occurrence of a file event on the primary storage, the one or more file migration records in the reconcile database are updated. Responsive to receiving a command to unmount a first mounted tape on one of the one or more tape drives, a reconcile function is performed on the first mounted tape, wherein the reconcile function updates the first mounted tape with the one or more file migration records in the reconcile database.

Event based reconcile operation for hierarchical storage management

Mechanisms are provided for performing a data replication operation to replicate data from a first data processing system to a second data processing system. The mechanisms store a compression ratio history in association with data to be replicated. The compression ratio history stores one or more compression ratios for one or more previously executed data replication operations. The mechanisms determine whether a data compression operation should be applied to the data for a current data replication operation based on the compression ratio(s) in the compression ratio history. In response to determining that data compression should be applied to the data, the data compression operation is performed and the compressed data is replicated to the second data processing system. In response to determining that data compression should not be applied, the data is replicated without compression.

The method includes receiving a recall request for a recall file having two copies stored in two tape libraries that are performing two migrations of two sets of files. The method also includes determining two migration progress values corresponding to the two migrations. Additionally, the method includes assigning the recall request to one of the two tape libraries having a greater value of the two migration progress values.

A computer-implemented method can include obtaining tape data for one or more tapes. The tape data can include pointer data corresponding to a first file. The method can further include determining, based on the tape data, that the first file is stored on a first tape of the one or more tapes. The first tape can have an export status. The method can further include determining that the pointer data includes a pointer to the first tape and a pointer to a second tape. The second tape can have a non-export status. The method can further include storing at least a portion of the tape data. The method can further include initiating, based on the first tape having the export status, a deactivation of the pointer to the first tape.

A system and method for adding a migration file group to a hierarchical storage management (HSM) system for data co-location are presented. A file group attribute may be automatically added to one or more files in the HSM system to enable one or more applications to co-locate data. The one or more files, having a similar file group attribute, may be migrated from one or more storage devices in a first tier in the HSM system to a tape storage device in an nth tier of the HSM system to enable recalling of the one or more files in the HSM system.

Modifying storage space consumed by snapshots

A mechanism is provided in a data processing system for asynchronous replication in a hierarchical storage management integrated storage system. For a given file to be replicated from a primary storage system to a remote storage system, the primary storage system accesses the remote storage system to determine file existence and migration status at the remote storage system for the given file. Responsive to the primary storage system determining that the given file exists and has been migrated from first tier storage to second tier storage at the remote storage system, the primary storage system determines a first performance penalty for file recall and a second performance penalty for sending excess data from the primary storage system to the remote storage system. Responsive to the primary storage system determining that the first performance penalty is greater than the second performance penalty, the primary storage system sends whole file data for the given file to the remote storage system to replicate the given file at the remote storage system.

Improving performance of asynchronous replication in HSM integrated storage systems

A system and method for preventing inefficient recalls in a hierarchical storage management (HSM) system are presented. Difference data may be received for updating a target file stored in a first storage system having at least an upper storage layer and a lower tape layer. The difference data may be stored in a stub file located on the upper storage layer and corresponding to the target file in the first storage system located on the lower tape layer. A recall operation may be executed that copies the target file from the lower tape layer to the upper storage layer. The difference data stored in the stub file may be copied to the target file copied onto the upper storage layer from the lower tape layer according to one or more predetermined events.

Preventing inefficient recalls in a hierarchical storage management (HSM) system

An approach, for storing video data in a plurality of tape media via a ring buffer. A tape data splitter receives video data stored in a ring buffer. The tape data splitter writes the video data to a current tape media. The tape data splitter detects an end of tape media event. The tape data splitter responds to the end of tape media event, by switching the current tape media to a next tape media. The tape data splitter selects a resume point for the video data stored in the ring buffer and writes to the next tape media, the video data stored in the ring buffer that is subsequent to the resume point.

The task is processed on the recovery site using the copy of the original file, and at least one result file is output.
