An apparatus for scanning recording media (a cassette tape deck) with an automatic medium-change mechanism (automatic cassette tape change mechanism) and a novel structure for mounting same in a vehicle are disclosed. The apparatus is installed in the vehicle body, specifically on a floor console located between the left- and right-hand seats and behind the shift lever of the vehicle transmission to leave the forward field of vision clear and to facilitate operation of the cassette tape deck.

Apparatus for scanning recording media with an automatic medium-change

A passive seat belt system includes a mechanical linkage between the seat back and a guide member which holds the belt in an appropriate operating position. The linkage serves to move the guide member forward as the seat back is tilted forward, to move the guide member to its normal working position when the seat back is moved to its normal upright position, and to hold the guide member in its working position as the seat back is tilted backwards. The mechanical linkage includes a linkage lever, of which one end is pivotably attached to the seat back and the another end constitutes a contoured lost-motion linkage engaging the pivotable guide member. The lost-motion linkage is designed to actuate movement of the guide member when the seat back moves within the forward moiety of its reclining range, and to be only slackly engaged with the guide member when the seat back is moved in the portion of its reclining range rearward of its normal upright position. A stop holds the guide member in its working position in the latter case.

Passive seat belt system for an automotive vehicle with tilting seats

A seat belt arrangement for an automotive vehicle having a seat structure, a roof side rail and a center pillar, comprising a guide rail extending along the roof side rail, a slide member slidably received in a downwardly open longitudinal groove in the guide rail and protruding downwardly from the groove, a retaining strap anchored at one end to the slide member and extending in part in front of the seat structure, a retractor unit adapted to pull the strap to wind it into roll form, and a strap guide member having an upper bracket portion secured to the roof side rail and a lower portion extending downwardly from the bracket portion along the center pillar. The slide member is movable forwardly and rearwardly through the groove in the guide rail, and the arm portion of the slide member extends through a gap formed between the center pillar and the guide member. The guide member is secured to the roof side rail by fastening elements which have not only the guide member but also the guide rail securely attached to the roof side rail. The bracket portion of the guide member upwardly terminates below the upper end of the roof side rail.

Seat belt arrangement for automotive vehicle

There is disclosed an improvided belt holder for a passive seat belt assembly, which connects first and second belts extending from different portions of a motor vehicle. The belt holder comprises a base plate fixed to the first belt and having spaced side walls, the side walls being formed with respective elongate slots at positions manually facing each other; a shaft passing through the elongate slots to span between the side walls, the second belt passing round the shaft, the shaft taking both a first position where the shaft is freely rotatable about the axis thereof permitting the second belt to be freely movable longitudinally with rotation of the shaft and a second position where the shaft tightly grips the second belt thereby fixing the second belt to the base plate; and means for holding the shaft in the first position until a predetermined magnitude of force is applied thereto.

Seat belt assembly

In an emergency locking seat belt retractor including a housing, a belt take-up shaft rotatably disposed in the housing for winding thereon a seat belt, a return spring for biasing the belt take-up shaft to rotate in a direction to retract the belt, a locking device for locking, when actuated, the belt take-up shaft against rotation in a direction to withdraw the seat belt, a shock sensing device for sensing a predetermined degree of shock applied thereto, and a transmitting device for actuating the locking device when the shock sensing device senses the predetermined degree of shock, the shock sensing device being pivotally connected to the housing by means of a pivot bolt.

Emergency locking seat belt retractor

A seat belt retractor including guide means for maintaining the two seat belts smooth and twist-free. The guide means has two guiding portions extending upwardly and angled towards each other like the sides of an isosceles triangle. The guiding portions optionally have pivot means at their central portions permitting automatic repositioning to accommodate passenger movements. The retractor causes the belts to retract smoothly and without jamming or twisting.
