An optical distance measuring apparatus comprises a laser diode emitting a light pulse, light receiver including a photon-counting light receiver, distance measurement unit including a signal discriminator and propagation estimator, and threshold determiner. The signal discriminator discriminates the signal component, exceeding a threshold, of the signal as a reflected signal resulting from reflection of the light pulse at a measurement object. The propagation estimator estimates a round-trip propagation time of the light pulse to the measurement object using the signal. The threshold determiner sets a boundary level as the threshold, corresponding to a reference level obtained from the signal when the signal discriminator determines the reflected signal, using the relationship between the reference and the boundary level. The reference level is obtained from the average value of a noise probability distribution in the signal. The boundary level represents a predetermined cumulative probability in the noise probability distribution.

Optical distance measuring apparatus

A light detector is provided to include a light receiving array having a plurality of light receivers respectively outputting pulse signals upon incidence of photons. A delay setting value is set which is used to adjust a time interval from when the pulse signals are output from the light receiving array to when a response number, which is a specified number of the light receivers outputting the pulse signals, is acquired.

The recovery time period of the SPAD in the first detector is different from the recovery time period of the SPAD in the second detector.

The reverse bias voltage is generated to be applied to the SPAD in the detection module based on (i) a reference breakdown voltage set from a breakdown voltage generated across the monitoring SPAD in Geiger mode and (ii) a predetermined excess voltage.

In a catalytic converter (), catalytic layers (A,B) made of a noble metal catalyst are formed on cell wall surfaces of a substrate () having a cell structure, and the catalytic layers (A,B) extend in a longitudinal direction of the substrate () along which gas flows. The substrate () has a central region (A) having a relatively high cell density and a peripheral region (B) having a relatively low cell density. The length of each of the catalytic layers (B) in the longitudinal direction in the peripheral region (B) is longer than the length of each of the catalytic layers (A) in the longitudinal direction in the central region (A).

Catalytic converter

A catalyst converter includes: a substrate () having a cell structure formed of a center area (A) having the highest cell density, a peripheral area (C) having the lowest cell density, and an intermediate area (B) having the cell density between that of the center area and that of the peripheral area; a first catalyst layer formed in the center area (A); a second catalyst layer formed in the intermediate area (B); and a third catalyst layer formed in the peripheral area (C). [Task] There is provided a mold release agent for forming a water glass-containing sand mold with high release properties which can prevent attachment of a water glass to a flask and the accumulation of the water glass on the flask in the formation of the sand mold when using the water glass as a binder. [Solution] The mold release agent for forming the water glass-containing sand mold is structured to contain an organic compound, the organic compound having a proton-donating functional group that reacts with the water glass to produce silicon dioxide. The water glass contained in a raw material for the sand mold reacts with the proton-donating functional group contained in the mold release agent so as to produce silicon dioxide. Since silicon dioxide has no adhesion, it can prevent that the attachment (fixing) of the water glass contained in a formed sand mold to the flask and the accumulation of the water glass on the flask.
