An aspect of the invention is an information terminal device includes a widget management unit for managing execution of a widget being a monofunctional program for performing display on the display part of a display device. The widget management unit includes a policy determination unit for determining the operation policy, including operation restriction and priority, concerning a display state at the display device in the widget, and a reliability determining unit for determining the reliability representing the reliability of the widget in the widget. When the state of the movement calculated by a navigation unit becomes a preset state, the widget management unit regulates the display state of the widget according to the operation restriction and the reliability, and performs display, while preferentially displaying guidance state and positional information calculated by the navigation unit.

Multi-tone display device

This specification discloses a novel multi-tone display matrix display device. The matrix display device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises a matrix display panel having a matrix composed of plural X direction signal lines and plural Y direction signal lines lying at right angles thereto, intersecting points on the matrix being pixels of an image to be displayed, an X direction driving section for sequentially scanning the X direction signal lines to provide image signals, a Y direction driving section for driving the Y direction signal lines in synchronism with the scanning of the X direction signal lines to sequentially provide select signals to the Y direction signal lines, an A-D converter section for receiving an analog signal and converting it into a digital signal, a voltage generating section for generating signals at plural voltage levels, and a selector section for selecting an output signal from the voltage generating section in accordance with the output from A-D converter section and providing it to the X direction driving section as an image signal.

A dot matrix display system for multiple-tone displays, including a display device in which pixels are arrayed in a matrix shape, an LC (liquid-crystal) drive signal generator which converts color display data into LC display data, an 8-level data driver which selects one of 8-level voltages in accordance with the LC display data and then delivers the selected voltage, and an 8-level voltage generator by which the 8-level applied LC voltages to be applied to the pixels are produced so as to substantially make uniform color differences between the respectively adjacent tones of the multiple-tone displays. Owing to the substantially uniform color differences between the respectively adjacent tones, multiple-tone displays which are uniformly seen by the human eye can be obtained.

A dot matrix display system for multiple-tone displays, including a display device in which pixels are arrayed in a matrix shape, an LC (liquid-crystal) drive signal generator which converts color display data into LC display data, an 8-level data driver which selects one of 8-level voltages in accordance with the LC display data and then delivers the selected voltage, and an 8-level applied LC voltage generator by which the 8-level applied LC voltages to be applied to the pixels are produced so as to substantially make uniform color differences between the respectively adjacent tones of the multiple-tone displays. Owing to the substantially uniform color differences between the respectively adjacent tones, the multiple-tone displays which are uniformly seen by the human eye can be realized.

A display apparatus includes a display having a plurality of pixels, and a controller which selects a pattern corresponding to a gradation of gradation data. On-state pixels are added to a pattern corresponding to one gradation of the gradation data to obtain a pattern corresponding to another gradation of the gradation data higher than the one gradation of the gradation data while maintaining unchanged an arrangement of on-state pixels in the pattern corresponding to the one gradation of the gradation data.

A liquid crystal display is capable of displaying intermediate, partial or half tones of images, while at the same time preventing the occurrence of flicker and the decay of the liquid crystal panel. The display operation for data to be displayed in an intermediate tone has one or more lines of a repeating frame of display data that are prohibited from being displayed during in each frame. Such inhibited display lines are designated differently on a sequential basis over consecutive frames, and the sequence of designation is varied in successive frames in accord with changing patterns.

Method and apparatus for liquid crystal display with intermediate tone

A liquid crystal display system which can accept input display data having a resolution which is larger (e.g. 1120&times;780 dots) or smaller (e.g. 640&times;480 dots) than a resolution of a liquid crystal panel (e.g. 1024&times;768 dots), and convert the input display data to reduced or enlarged display data for display on the liquid crystal panel. The system generates, for example, one new vertical or horizontal line based on two contiguous vertical or horizontal lines in the input display data. If the resolution of the input display data is larger than the resolution of the liquid crystal panel, the system replaces the two contiguous lines with the one new line. If the resolution of the input display data is smaller than the resolution of the liquid crystal panel, the system inserts the one new line between the two contiguous lines.
