A blood pressure monitor includes a cuff to be wound around a living body of a subject, a measuring unit for measuring blood pressure with said cuff wound around the living body of said subject, a detecting unit for detecting an inclination angle of said cuff, a specifying unit for specifying a current inclination level among a plurality of predetermined inclination levels upon measurement by said measuring unit, based on a result of detection by said detecting unit, a memory for storing therein the inclination level specified by said specifying unit, in association with blood pressure data measured by said measuring unit, and a notifying unit for providing notification of at least one past inclination level of the plurality of inclination levels stored in said memory and said current inclination level, in association with each other.

Blood pressure measurement is precisely performed by more correctly determining positions of a cuff and a heart without being affected by variations in physical features among subject persons and their postures during the measurement. With the technique of the present invention, there are calculated the altitudes of the cuff and the heart on the basis of an inputted upper arm length and forearm length of a subject person and forearm angles detected in the pitch direction and roll direction. Also, in addition to a forearm angle detecting means, an upper arm angle detecting means is provided and the altitudes of the cuff and the heart are calculated on the basis of detected angles of a forearm and an upper arm. Also, a biaxial angle detecting means detects angles of the forearm in the pitch direction and the roll direction and calculates the altitudes of the cuff and the heart on the basis of these detected values.

A bladder incorporated in a cuff includes an outer wall located at the outer side, an inner wall located at the inner side, side walls connected to both side ends of the outer wall and the inner wall in the wrapping direction, and folded inward of the bladder, and a joint connecting the side walls inside the bladder. A sphygmomanometer cuff is provided that can maintain the former configuration even when inflated or deflated without change in the width even if the bladder is inflated, and that does not dilate in the width direction when inflated.

A cuff of a wrist-mount blood pressure monitor capable of oppressing an artery of the wrist securely without having effects of muscle, tendon or bone existing in the wrist area is presented. This cuff of a wrist-mount blood pressure monitor comprises a first air bag A as a first inflatable portion, and a second air bag A as a second inflatable region disposed between the first inflatable portion A and the wrist, being made of a material of a higher stretchability than the material for the first air bag A.

There is provided a compression device for living being, simply structured and capable of fitting a site to be measured of any size. The compression device includes an elastic plate formed in one piece and elastically holding a predetermined curvature, provided for preventing a fluid bag from expanding outwards. The elastic plate includes a first curvature substantially matching a lateral cross section of a thin site to be measured, a second curvature and a connection connecting the first and second curvatures together. The connection allows the second curvature to be arranged outwardly of a virtual extension of the first curvature substantially matching the lateral cross section of the thin site to be measured. The second curvature extends inwardly of a virtual extension of the connection extending toward the second curvature.

Compression device for living being

A cuff for a sphygmomanometer is constituted of an air bag for pressurization into which a predetermined amount of air is supplied and connected to a pressure sensor, an air bag for press into which a predetermined amount of fluid is supplied for causing the pressurization air bag to press the artery in the wrist portion, and a band for attaching both air bags to the wrist portion. When blood pressure is to be measured, a predetermined amount of air is supplied into the pressurization air bag and then air is supplied into the press air bag. The press air bag is accordingly expanded to cause the pressurization air bag to pressurize the artery. In this way, the sphygmomanometer cuff is provided which can overcome discomfort due to a feeling of being overly pressurized or dampness and ensure blocking of the blood flow in the artery so as to achieve measurement with higher precision.
