Information related to a vehicle can be displayed by projecting an image based on the information on a road surface or the like. An image projection apparatus that projects an image includes: an acquisition unit that acquires information to be displayed; and an image projection unit that projects the image based on the information to be displayed acquired by the acquisition unit.

An information display apparatus and an information display method configured to display video information of a virtual image on a windshield of conveyance is provided. The information display apparatus includes: a display configured to display the video information; and a virtual image optical system configured to display a virtual image at a front of the conveyance by reflecting light emitted from the display by means of the windshield. The virtual image optical system includes a concave mirror and an optical element. A reflective film is formed on a reflecting surface of the concave mirror. A protective film for preventing moisture absorption is formed on a facing surface. By forming end surfaces of the two surfaces as a curved surface or an inclined surface and forming them on the end surfaces to block moisture, moisture absorption of plastic is prevented.

A vehicular lighting apparatus which is relatively small, low cost, superior in mountability to an automobile, and superior in recognizeability of an object illuminated by a head lamp. The apparatus includes: a composite lens element that is a light guide element constructed by molding a translucent resin substantially into a plate-like shape; a planar light-emitting unit that emits light; an optical system that transforms planar light from the light-emitting unit into linear light and that causes the linear transformed light to be incident on a rear side face of the light guide element; and a diffraction lens formed on the rear side face of the light guide element on which the linear transformed light is incident, and condensing the linear transformed light. The light condensed by the lens means is emitted from a front side face of the light guide element onto a road surface in front of the vehicle.

Vehicular lighting apparatus

Provided is a small-sized information display device displaying video image information as a virtual image by use of an eyepiece optical system including a concave mirror having desired reflection characteristics in a specific polarization direction, where a liquid crystal display panel is used as a video image light source. The information display device has a liquid crystal display panel as a flat display forming video image information disposed therein, and includes a virtual image optical system including a member to be projected for displaying virtual images in front of a vehicle by making a video image displayed on the liquid crystal display panel reflect on the member to be projected. The virtual image optical system includes a concave mirror, and a reflective film of the concave mirror has desired reflection characteristics in a specific polarization direction, so that virtual images having uniform brightness and chromaticity can be obtained.

Information display device

A head-up display includes a backlight, a liquid crystal display panel, a virtual image optical system, a wavelength selection member that is made of resin having an optical characteristic which absorbs infrared rays and transmits a visible light, and a housing that houses the virtual optical system and the wavelength selection member, in which the virtual optical system includes a lens unit and a free-form surface mirror disposed along an emission direction of the display image light in order from a position closer to an emission surface of the display image light in the liquid crystal display panel, and the wavelength selection member is disposed on an optical path of the display image light extending from an emission surface of the display image light in the liquid crystal display panel to an opening of the housing.

Head-up display
