An apparatus and method of failure detection in optical amplifier is disclosed. The optical amplifier includes an optical amplifying fiber configured to receive input light so that the input light travels through the optical amplifying fiber, an excitation light generator configured to supply excitation light to the optical amplifying fiber to optically amplify the input light as the input light travels through the optical amplifying fiber, and a processor configured to determine whether a failure has occurred in the optical amplifier, based on a change in power of the excitation light and a change in power of the input light.

Method and apparatus for detection of failure of an optical amplifier

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a probiotic(s) which can activate an aromatic hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) and can consequently prevent inflammatory damage in the digestive tract. The present invention relates to; a probiotic(s) capable of activating an AhR; an anti-inflammatory agent comprising the probiotic(s); an orally ingestible composition containing the anti-inflammatory agent; and a method for screening for the probiotic(s).

Composition for preventing inflammations

An optical amplifier includes: a rare-earth doped fiber configured to amplify signal light to thereby produce a amplified signal light; a gain control circuit configured to control an optical gain of the rare-earth doped fiber; a photodetector configured to detect intensities of different wavelength of light obtained from the amplified signal light; and an abnormality detection circuit configured to detect an abnormality of the signal light in accordance with a ratio or a difference between the intensities of the different wavelength.

An optical transmission node including an optical preamplifier to amplify input light and an optical postamplifier to amplify light output from the optical preamplifier, includes the optical postamplifier configured to generate amplified spontaneous emission light without signals input, the optical preamplifier configured to amplify the amplified spontaneous emission light from the optical postamplifier, a loopback switch configured to discouple a path of the light output from the optical preamplifier to the optical postamplifier, and couple a path of the light output from the optical postamplifier to the optical preamplifier.

Optical transmission apparatus and optical signal level checking method

A vibration isolator includes layered rubbers interposed between a support body and a movable body, and a pair of dampers attached to the support body at one ends and to the movable body at the other ends. The layered rubbers are arranged to be spaced apart in an anterior and posterior direction and in a left and right direction, with reference to a direction in which an operator faces when seated. One of the dampers is arranged at a position corresponding to a middle of the left and right direction between the layered rubbers arranged in the left and right direction, and aligned in the anterior and posterior direction. The other one of the dampers is arranged closer to an anterior side than a middle of the anterior and posterior direction between the layered rubbers arranged in the anterior and posterior direction, and aligned in the lift and right direction.

Damping device

According to a WDM optical transmission system of the present invention, wavelength numbers information of a WDM signal light output from an upstream side optical amplifying unit to a transmission path fiber, and signal output level information thereof are transmitted to a downstream side optical amplifying unit utilizing a supervisory control light. In the downstream side optical amplifying unit, a loss (span loss) in the transmission path fiber is computed using the upstream side signal output level information and downstream side signal input level information, so that a gain to be set for a downstream side optical amplifier is calculated based on the computed loss, and also, the gain is corrected based on a difference between a target value of the signal output level computed using the wavelength numbers information and an actual measurement value thereof, so that the optical amplifier is controlled in accordance with the post-corrected gain. As a result, it becomes possible to reduce an influence by a measurement error of the span loss, to thereby control the optical amplifier at a high-speed and with high precision.

WDM optical transmission system and optical amplifying apparatus

Data transferred from a host computer to a memory device is written into sectors whose addresses in a memory area are decoded by a decode table. Old data to be updated by the above data is erased or marked with erase flags. At a predetermined point of time, in order to create free areas, necessary data is evacuated to a primary memory media and unnecessary data indicated by erase flags is erased by a unit of predetermined memory size. Part of the memory media which has become defective is marked with a defect flag, and is replaced by an alternate area. In doing so, the decode table is rewritten to arrange the memory area.

Optical amplifier which can eliminate the need for an optical detection section before an external attenuating medium, can prevent SN degradation, and can reduce power required for pumping light. An attenuation amount detection section detects an amount of signal light attenuation caused by a variable optical attenuator and the external attenuating medium connected in series, by means of a front optical detection section provided before the variable optical attenuator and the external attenuating medium and a back optical detection section provided thereafter. An attenuation amount control section controls the variable optical attenuator such that the amount of signal light attenuation detected by the attenuation amount detection section is kept constant. A connection detection section detects a connection or disconnection of the external attenuating medium in accordance with the amount of signal light attenuation obtained when the amount of attenuation caused by the variable optical attenuator is minimized.

Optical amplifier

A high-speed fluidic device has a friction roller type speed-increasing mechanism, an electric motor, and a high-speed fluidic machine, wherein: the friction roller type speed-increasing mechanism includes a housing, a low-speed side member having an outer ring provided at one end portion thereof, a high-speed side shaft rotatably supported by the housing so as to be eccentric to the low-speed side member and the outer ring, at least one guide roller rotatably supported between the outer ring and the high-speed side shaft, and at least one movable roller rotatably supported between the outer ring and the high-speed side shaft; the electric motor drives the friction roller type speed-increasing mechanism; and the high-speed fluidic machine is connected to the high-speed side shaft so as to be driven by the high-speed side shaft.

High-speed fluidic device

A power roller bearing of a toroidal-type continuously variable transmission unit that is used for a transmission of an automobile or the like comprises a power roller, an outer race, balls, a retainer, etc. Annular raceway grooves are formed individually on the respective opposite end faces of the outer race and the power roller. Treated-surface layers for enhancing the endurance of the power roller bearing are formed individually on the respective surfaces of the raceway grooves. The treated-surface layers include super-finished surfaces with the surface roughness of 0.05 Rad or less, formed individually on the raceway grooves, and low-friction layers formed individually on the super-finished surfaces. Alternatively, the treated-surface layers include residual compression stress layers formed on the respective surface layer portions of the raceway grooves by shot-preening.

Power roller bearing of toroidal-type continuously variable transmission unit

In a toroidal type continuously variable transmission, first pivot shafts provided on both ends of first trunnions are supported within support holes formed in yokes secured to an inner surface of a casing. The support portions are provided with ball splines and radial needle bearings. During operation, loads acting on the first trunnions are canceled within the yokes. Axial displacements and rocking displacements of the first trunnions are effected smoothly by the ball splines and the radial needle bearings.

Toroidal type continuously variable transmission

A speed increasing gear used in a supercharger has a center roller connected to an output shaft, an outer wheel arranged eccentric to the center roller, and a plurality of intermediate rollers arranged within an annular space in which a width of the center roller with respect to a diametrical direction is uneven with respect to a circumferential direction of the center roller. The annular space is provided between the center roller and the outer wheel, and a pivot of at least one intermediate roller is movably arranged in a circumferential direction and a radial direction of the center roller.

Supercharger

A double-cavity half-toroidal type continuously variable transmission comprises an input shaft rotatable by means of a drive source, first and second input disks rotatable integrally with the input shaft, first and second output disks opposed to corresponding input disks, and a hydraulic loading mechanism. The hydraulic loading mechanism includes first and second hydraulic chambers arranged in the axial direction of the input shaft. The first hydraulic chamber is defined by the back surface of the first input disk, an end face of the first disk member, etc. The second hydraulic chamber is defined by the inner end face of the first cylinder, an end face of the second disk member, etc. The first and second hydraulic chambers are simultaneously supplied with pressurized oil by means of a pressure source. Under the pressure of the oil, the first input disk is pressed toward the first output disk, and the second input disk is pressed toward the second output disk through the medium of an interlocking portion.
