The printer includes a slide member adapted to be reciprocally moved by a drive source. The printer comprises a paper cutting member reciprocally movable for cutting the printed paper, a connecting member connected to the paper cutting member and arranged so as to be engaged with and disengaged from the slide member, and an electromagnetic device adapted to be actuated by a paper cutting signal for controlling the engagement and disengagement of the connecting member with and from the slide member, to thereby permit the cutting member to be engaged by the slide member by the electromagnetic device when activated by the paper cutting signal so as to actuate the slide member for operating the paper cutting member.

A cutter blade receiving member having a slit therein for cooperating with the cutter device in a printer. The cutter blade receiving member is reduced in thickness in a portion above the slit so as to form a step on the side of the receiving member where the cutter blade of the cutter device enters the slit.

A mechanism for actuating a platen of a printer in which a cooperating pin and lever are provided to permit a plurality of printing rings with the desired characters thereon to be printed to be placed into a printing position, to move a platen into abutting engagement with the printing rings and hold them engaged for printing, all during a first period of time, and to remove the platen from the printing rings during a second period of time, and in which the first time period is about two to three times longer than the second time period so that the speed of the printer for each printing operation is increased.

A shutter for cameras comprising an intermediate lever to open and close shutter blades serving as diaphragm blades, a driving member which can open and close the shutter blades by rocking the intermediate lever while moving in one direction, a device which can vary the leverage of the intermediate lever by shifting the pivot of the intermediate lever with an EE mechanism and/or flashmatic mechanism and a synchroswitch operated by the driving member in order to make a flash-photographing possible at all shutter speeds.
