A work holding mechanism includes a body part having a three-dimensional shape including at least a recess or a protrusion, and an adsorption part for holding a work by adsorbing the work onto the body part in conformity to the three-dimensional shape of the recess or the protrusion provided in the body part. The work is held by being adsorbed in conformity to the three-dimensional shape of the body part, and, therefore, the amount of usage of the work in a work molding system can be reduced as compared with when the work is held so as to have a flat shape.

The present invention provides a laminate-type decorative sheet for use in simultaneous decoration and injection molding, including a base film and at least a decorative layer provided on the base film, the decorative sheet having an elongation at break as measured at 25&#xb0; C. of 3 to 10%, and an elongation at break as measured at 120&#xb0; C. of 200% or more. The laminate-type decorative sheet exhibits good conformability to the molding surface of a mold during the course of preforming, and is less likely to produce wrinkling, blistering, breakage, etc. when laminated on and united with a resin molding through injection molding. A foil-decorating injection molding apparatus having a male mold, a female mold, a transport chuck for feeding a decorative sheet S between the male mold and the female mold, and a clamper for pressing and fastening the decorative sheet onto a parting surface of the female mold. The transport chuck consists of two clamping devices each clamping a side edge of the decorative sheet. The clamper consists of a pressing frame and a connecting member. When the pressing frame is in abutment with the female mold, a space is provided between the connecting member and the female mold in which the clamping devices can pass through. After the decorative sheet is fed by the clamping chuck, the sheet can be fastened by the clamper without waiting until the chuck is brought back to an initial standby position, thereby reducing the manufacturing time.

In the method, after the pattern-bearing film is fed to the female mold, the distal end of the film is fixed under a lower portion of the female mold, and at the same time the film is retreated by a force from the film supply portion. Thus, this tightens up the film so that the slacks or wrinkles cannot be formed on the film. Therefore, the film can be fortunately spread around the parting surface of the female mold. In the apparatus, the film suppressing frame is pressed to the female mold through the sliding rod arranged in the female mold, in such a manner that the female mold embraces the frame. Thus, the pressing of the frame is performed by a simple structure, and the film is accurately positioned to the internal surface of the female mold. Also, the film suppressing frame is constituted to advance from and retreat to the female mold. Thus, this causes a space between the both molds and an outside standby position to be useless. A space around the apparatus can be effectively utilized.

A sheet-decorating injection molding machine is provided with a female mold, a male mold, a sheet clamper for fixedly holding a decorative sheet on a parting surface of the female mold, and a hot plate having a first heating plate and a second heating plate jointed at corresponding edges thereof in a V-shape. The heating surfaces of the first and second heating plates face the female mold. The V-shaped hot plate is moved to a position near the decorative sheet held by the sheet clamper on the female mold to heat the decorative sheet uniformly.

A decoration sheet is fed on a mold and then is heated to a temperature above a heat distortion temperature thereof, is conformed to the surface of a cavity of the mold by vacuum drawing. Then the molds are clamped, and a resin is injected to adhere the decoration sheet to the resin. The decoration sheet is preheated to a temperature below the heat distortion temperature by sheet preheating means before fed onto the mold. The decoration sheet preheated by the sheet preheating means is fed to the mold by sheet feeding means.
