Disclosed is an image fixing apparatus for use in an image forming apparatus for forming an image on a recording medium. During a process of continuously forming an image on a plurality of recording media, the recording medium feeding speed is switched when the temperature of a fixing roller has dropped to a particular value which is set depending on the rate at which the temperature of the fixing roller drops.

Image fixing apparatus

In an image forming apparatus, during a continuous image forming mode, in a case where the number of recording members on which to form an image is not less than a predetermined number, a cleaning web is wound by a second amount larger than a first amount which is used for the ordinary winding of the cleaning web, after completion of a continuous image forming operation. Thus, a recording member to be next used for image formation can be prevented from being smudged.

Image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus has an image forming unit for forming an unfixed image on a recording material, an image fixing device for fixing the unfixed image on the recording material, the image fixing device having at least one heater, and a power supply for supplying electric power to the heater. The power supply supplies electric power to the heater until the fixing device reaches a predetermined temperature possible to start copy after a power source of the image forming apparatus is turned ON, and preparation of the image forming unit permitting image formation on the recording material is effected before the fixing device reaches the temperature possible to start fixing after the power source is turned ON, and, during the preparation, the power supply reduces the electric power supplied to the heater, and, after the preparation, the power supply increases the electric power supplied to the heater.
