A magnetic material antenna using a ferrite sintered body comprising one or more conductors disposed at least on a surface or in internal portion of the ferrite sintered body, wherein the ferrite sintered body is a sintered body of Y-type ferrite containing BaO, CoO, and FeOas main components and wherein the ferrite sintered body contains Cu and, in a cross section for the sintered body, an area rate of a cubic Co-rich phase, which has a ration of an amount of Co being higher than a Y-type ferrite phase being a mother phase, is 1% or less.

The chip antenna shown is provided with two chip antenna elements (the 1st chip antenna element, the 2nd chip antenna element). These chip antenna elements have the 1st magnetic baseand the 2nd magnetic base, and linear conductorsandformed in the core, respectively. Magnetic baseand magnetic baseare separated. In the 1st chip antenna element, linear conductorformed in the core of the 1st magnetic basewas formed to the end face of this magnetic base, and the end has protruded from said end face. There is provided Y-type hexagonal ferrite having a high density of sintered body and a low level of loss and an antenna. The hexagonal ferrite having Y-type ferrite as the main phase is characterized in that main components of the hexagonal ferrite are M1O (M1 stands for at least one of Ba and Sr), M2O (M2 stands for at least one of Co, Ni, Cu, Zn and Mn) and FeO, and the loss factor and the density of sintered body are 0.15 or lower and 4.6&#xd7;10kg/mor higher, respectively. According to the present invention, a surface mount type chip antenna comprises a base made of a dielectric, magnetic substance or mixture thereof, at least one terminal portion provided on the mounted face of the base, a concave provided in the mounted face of the base except in the terminal portion, and at least one conductive wire wound around the base. Another feature is a surface mount type antenna device comprising a surface mount type chip antenna arranged in the vicinity of metallic functional components, and filter circuits connected to the power source side terminal of the metallic functional components.

The invention provides a small multimode antenna capable of commonly using a single feeding point at a plurality of frequencies. The antenna includes a radiating conductordisposed above a ground conductorand distributed-constant circuitsandcoupled to the radiating conductor. Each of the distributed-constant circuits is constructed by a transmission line and has a branch. One end of the radiating conductor and one end of the distributed-constant circuitare connected to each other to be a connection point and, further, the other end of the radiating conductor and one end of the distributed-constant circuitare connected to each other. The connection point is a single feeding pointusing the ground conductor as an earth. The distributed-constant circuitsandare designed as an equivalent circuit in which different stubs are connected in parallel with a transmission line, and impedance matching at a plurality of frequencies is realized at the feeding point.

To provide an antenna element having a radiation electrode formed mainly on one surface of a dielectric substrate. The radiation electrode is substantially symmetric in form with respect to the center thereof, and has a first half and a second half with the same direction of main polarization of radiation emitted therefrom. Each of the halves of the radiation electrode may be a quarter-wave antenna for a wavelength of the emitted radiation. A power supply conductor to be connected to a high frequency signal source is connected to the first half of the radiation electrode, and a ground conductor to be connected to a ground is connected to the second half. A total impedance of the first half of the radiation electrode and the power supply conductor and a total impedance of the second half of the radiation electrode and the ground conductor can substantially match to one another, so that resonance between the halves of the radiation electrode can be enhanced and a wider bandwidth can be realized.

A chip antenna element comprises (a) a radiation electrode formed on at least one surface of an insulating substrate, such that the radiation electrode extends from a first end of the substrate or its vicinity to a second end of the substrate or its vicinity, with a width decreasing substantially continuously and/or stepwise, thereby having a wide rear end on the side of the first end of the substrate and a narrow tip end on the side of the second end of the substrate, (b) a first grounding electrode connecting directly or via a gap to the rear end of the radiation electrode, (c) a second grounding electrode opposing the tip end of the radiation electrode via a gap, and (d) a feeding electrode formed on at least one surface of the substrate at a position facing an intermediate point of the radiation electrode, with or without contact with the radiation electrode.

An antenna element comprises an insulating substrate; a first conductor layer formed continuously on an upper surface, a bottom surface and at least one side surface of the insulating substrate; a strip gap consisting of a portion in which a conductor layer is not formed on an upper surface and/or a side surface of the insulating substrate; and a second strip conductor layer formed in the slot or in an insulated extension connected to the strip gap thereby being electrically insulated from the first conductor layer, the second conductor layer being electrically connected to a feeder. The first conductor layer formed on an upper surface of the insulating substrate is divided by at least one slit gap extending substantially in perpendicular to the direction of electric current at a position separated from the strip gap.
