An object of the present invention is to provide an ink containing an azo compound which is excellent in solubility in a solvent and has a high extinction coefficient. The present invention relates to an ink comprising a solvent having a relative permittivity of 3 or less, as measured at a frequency of 1 kHz and at 22&#xb0; C. and having a solubility in water of 20 mg/L or less at 25&#xb0; C. and a specific azo compound.
