A virtual LAN system forms a virtual group which is based on elements having physical attribute or logical attribute and constituting a virtual LAN, sets a client address and priority of the virtual group in a virtual group registration table, and allocates unicast and broadcast traffic bands in group units.

Virtual LAN system

A picture encoding system which performs a prediction of picture element values within a block having a plurality of picture elements into which an original picture is divided, a discrete sine transform with respect to prediction error signals for obtaining a transform coefficient, a quantization of the transform coefficient for encoding quantized indexes, an inverse quantization of the quantized indexes for reproduction of the transform coefficient, an inverse discrete sine transform of the reproduced coefficient to reproduce the prediction error signal, and an addition thereto of the predicted picture element value for reproducing the picture element values within the block to employ them in predicting a next stage block to be encoded, whereby the block can be minimized in size while simplifying required transform operation.

Picture encoding system

A picture transmission system of the present invention is adapted to code picture data by a variable sampling rate coding system to transmit the same. Picture data are stored in a frame memory (16) of a transmission area so that differential values between the same and predictors from a predictive circuit (43) are obtained by a subtracter (41) and compression-coded by a variable sampling rate compression circuit (42) to be transmitted. The compression-coded differential values are expansion-decoded by a variable sampling rate expansion circuit (40) so that original differential values are supplied to an adder (45). The adder (45) adds up the differential values with predictors, to produce predictors for subsequent sampling points. In a receiving area, transmitted codes are expansion-decoded by a variable sampling rate expansion circuit (51), so that the decoded values are added up with predictors from a predictive circuit (53) by an adder (52) to output the original picture data. Preposition prediction and variable sampling rate decoding are thus combined to enable, in the receiving area, automatic correction of compression/expansion errors caused in the transmission area.

Picture transmission system using secondary differential variable

An individuality discriminating system wherein analog signals of a human individual picture are converted to digital signals according to brightness of the picture, and such digital signals are stored as individual picture data in an integrated-circuit (IC) card as compressed, with picture elements other than changed ones in the picture treated as zero picture elements, while in using the IC card by its bearer the thus stored data are read out of the card as expanded and analog-converted for display on a monitor. Since the picture data are compressed to remarkably reduce code volume upon the storing in the card, the individuality discrimination can be realized practically precisely and effectively reliably through an investigators's comparison with eyes of the thus displayed picture with a directly viewed or monitored picture of the bearer.

Individuality discriminating system

A visual image sensor system for detecting an abnormal change in a monitored scene is disclosed, wherein normal changes which may occur in the monitored scene are previously memorized to be selectively compared with changes in the monitored scene, whereby the normal changes are discriminated from the actual abnormal change to be detected. An alarm is issued when the monitored scene includes a change different from any of the memorized normal changes selected according to one or more rational selection standards, whereby false or redundant alarms due to the normal changes are prevented. For further precise detection, abnormal changes which may occur in the monitored scene are also previously memorized to be compared with the changes in the monitored scene.

Visual Image sensor system

Speech recognition by first log-compressing the speech signal, then filtering into subband signals which are subtracted to form an indicator of voiced, unvoiced and silence intervals, whereby sequence and duration patterns are coded in +1, -1, and zero.
