A solid pharmaceutical composition for oral administration comprising a histamine H.sub.2 -receptor antagonist, a low neutralizing capacity antacid, and a high neutralizing capacity antacid coated with a pH-independent and water-insoluble polymer base, which composition improves the condition of a patient promptly after administration and sustains the effects for an extended period of time in the treatment of digestive disorders on which suppression of gastric acid secretion is effective.

H.sub.2 -Receptor antagonist and antacid composition

A coated preparation prepared by coating drug particles having a disagreeable taste with a mixture comprising a hydrophobic substance with a melting point of 45.degree. to 90.degree. C. and a surfactant with a lower melting point and heat treating the coating layer at a temperature ranging from around the melting point of the surfactant up to the melting point of the hydrophobic substance to modify the nature of the coating layer. This preparation can release the drug quickly which sufficiently suppressing the disagreeable taste.

Quick release coated preparation

A novel coating agent for solid medicaments containing a hydrogel-like substance of a water-insoluble hydroxypropyl cellulose having 5-16% by weight of a hydroxypropoxy group or the dry powder of a hydrogel-like substance. By coating solid medicaments with the coating agent, solid medicaments having high impact resistance and showing very less aging can be provided advantageously in industry.
