Disclosed are an organic domain/inorganic domain hybrid material comprising an organic domain comprising at least one water-soluble organic polymer having anionic and/or cationic functional groups, and an inorganic domain, the organic and inorganic domains being chemically bonded to each other through the functional groups, the inorganic domain comprising inorganic bridges, each independently comprising at least one Si atom, at least two O atoms and at least one divalent metal atom, wherein the Si atom and the O atoms together form at least one siloxane linkage arranged longitudinally of the inorganic bridge, wherein each divalent metal atom is ionically bonded to the O atoms of the siloxane linkages positioned adjacent to the divalent metal atoms, wherein, when at least a part of the organic domain is comprised of at least one organic polymer having an anionic functional group and optionally a cationic functional group, the organic domain/inorganic domain weight ratio is less than 1.0; and the use thereof as a hydrophilicity reagent and an antibacterial/antifungal reagent.

Organic domain/inorganic domain complex materials and use thereof

Disclosed is a cured form of calcium silicate, mainly comprising tobermorite and exhibiting a powder X-ray diffraction pattern in which the diffraction peak intensity Ib ascribed to the (220) plane of the tobermorite and the minimum diffraction intensity Ia observed in the diffraction angle range between the two diffraction peaks respectively ascribed to the (220) plane and (222) plane of the tobermorite satisfy the relationship Ib/Ia&#x2267;3.0; a differential pore distribution curve obtained by mercury porosimetry in which the logarithmic width of the pore diameter distribution as measured at a height of &#xbc; of the height of the maximum peak of the differential pore distribution curve is from 0.40 to 1.20, and also disclosed is a reinforced calcium silicate composite structure, and methods for producing same. The cured form of calcium silicate and the reinforced calcium silicate composite structure of the present invention which, while exhibiting an apparent specific gravity of from 0.14 to 1.0 (and, hence, having a light weight), exhibit excellent properties as a building material, such as a high strength, a high modulus of elasticity, a high resistance to the neutralization reaction, a high dimensional stability, and a high resistance to chipping.

Disclosed is an organic domain/inorganic domain hybrid material comprising: an organic domain comprising at least one water-soluble or water-dispersible organic polymer having a plurality of functional groups, and an inorganic domain, the organic domain and the inorganic domain being ionically bonded to each other through the functional groups of the organic polymer to form an ionically crosslinked structure, the inorganic domain comprising a plurality of inorganic bridges, each of which independently comprises at least one silicon atom, at least two oxygen atoms and at least two divalent metal atoms, wherein the weight ratio of the organic domain to the inorganic domain is at least 1.0.
