An anti-lock brake system for a wheel wherein a fluid pressure is applied to a wheel cylinder, through a solenoid-operated valve device and a flow control device. Upon detection of locking of the wheel, the valve device is brought into an anti-lock state in which the valve device is alternately placed in its pressure-increase and pressure-decrease positions. The flow control device is normally placed in a first mode for a sufficient flow of the fluid into the wheel cylinder, and is operated in a second mode with the valve device placed in the anti-lock state. In the second mode, the flow control device decreases the rate of fluid flow to the wheel cylinder, with an increase in a difference between the power source pressure and the wheel cylinder pressure. An assisting device is provided for enabling the flow control device to adequaely effect the first mode of operation for at least a period between commencement of brake application and commencement of anti-lock operation of the valve device. The assisting device further assists the flow control device to adequately effect the second mode of operation at least while the valve device is in the pressure-increase position during the anti-lock operation of the valve decive.

A shock absorber includes a cylinder, a piston disposed movably in the cylinder to partition the interior of the cylinder into first and second liquid chambers and having two groups of ports affording communication between the first and second liquid chambers, a valve body disposed so as to open and close the port of each group in the piston and a piston rod connected with the piston and projecting from the cylinder to the outside. The shock absorber further includes a liquid path affording communication between the first and second liquid chambers without passing through the piston, first and second valves for generating respectively damping force with liquid flowing through the liquid path and regulator provided in the piston rod and capable of blocking liquid from flowing through the two groups of ports in the piston.

A braking device having a high-pressure hydraulic system including a hydraulic pressure source, a wheel-cylinder hydraulic system including a wheel cylinder for applying brake to a vehicle wheel, a low-pressure hydraulic system including a reservoir, a solenoid-operated directional control valve device for fluid communication of the wheel-cylinder hydraulic system selectively with the high-pressure hydraulic system or the low-pressure hydraulic system, an electric control device connected to the directional control valve device to control the wheel cylinder pressure, and a variable flow restrictor device disposed in the high-pressure hydraulic system or the wheel-cylinder hydraulic system, for decreasing a rate of flow of the fluid through the high-pressure or wheel-cylinder hydraulic system, with an increase in a pressure difference between the high-pressure and wheel-cylinder hydraulic systems, and with an increase in a pressure in the wheel-cylinder hydraulic system. The flow restrictor device may consist of two pilot-operated variable flow restrictor valves which may be disposed in the high-pressure and wheel-cylinder hydraulic systems, respectively, or both disposed in one of these two systems.

Braking device having an automatic fluid pressure regulating function

A hydraulic buffer includes a cylinder, a piston disposed movably in the cylinder to partition the interior of the cylinder into two liquid chambers, and a piston rod connected to the piston and having a first path communicating with one of the liquid chambers and extending axially beyond the piston and a second path communicating with the other of the liquid chambers. A solenoid valve received in the piston rod has a tubular spool disposed movably axially of the piston rod and has a third path capable of communicating with the second path in the piston rod. Further, inside the spool is disposed a pipe having a fourth path capable of communicating with the third path in the spool and communicating with the first path in the piston rod.

Hydraulic buffer

Disclosed is an improvement in a rack-and-pinion type steering gear, wherein a rack bar abutting portion is so formed as to project from the inner surface of the insert hole at the circumference of the upper opening of the rack guide hole, and the rack guide is made of a low-rigid material such as synthetic resin. There is defined a clearance between the rack guide abutting portion and the back of the rack bar, which clearance is larger than the clearance between the rack guide and the set bolt, but smaller than the elastic deformation limit of the rack guide.

Rack-and-pinion type steering gear

The insert molding device provides a lead groove communicating with a clearance between a cavity and an inserted workpiece in a mold used for molding a plastic coating on part of the workpiece so that excess molten plastic enters the lead groove. The resulting casting fin formed in the lead groove can be easily removed with an automatic machine, thereby reducing the cost of the final product.

A triboelectric powder spraying gun is provided which can produce an increased deposition efficiency and an improved coated surface. The spraying gun comprises an earthed or high voltage-impressed conductive nozzle having, as a lining, a plastic material which possesses an electrification series remarkably different from that of a powdered paint, in which said powdered paint is transferred to said nozzle so that it is triboelectrically charged within said nozzle, and a turbulence generator arranged inside of said nozzle. The surface of said turbulence generator is coated with a plastic material possessing an electrification series remarkably different from that of said powdered paint.

Triboelectric powder spraying gun

A device for painting by electrostatic powder spraying including a nozzle member having a passage to which spray powder particles are supplied in a wafting state in air and in which the particles are triboelectrified. The nozzle member is provided with powder discharge windows from which the electrified powder particles are discharged and diffused by a diffuser. The inner wall of the nozzle passage, the peripheral walls of the windows and the surface of the diffuser are covered with fluorocarbon resin of a low friction coefficient.

Device for painting by electrostatic powder spraying

A constant velocity universal joint wherein its outer race has a larger radius of curvature than its inner race at the transverse sectional surface of the ball rolling groove at the point of contact between the ball and the ball rolling groove. Concave and convex surface portions of a ball rolling groove have a characteristic such that when the inner and outer races have the same radius of curvature at the transverse sectional surface of the ball rolling groove, the contact stress of the ball rolling groove of the outer race becomes lower than that of the inner race. By varying the radius of curvature on the transverse sectional surface of the ball rolling groove of the outer race from that of the inner race to render the contact stresses of the two grooves equal to each other, it is possible to facilitate working of the grooves and yet to achieve the same degree of precision finishes as has hitherto been achieved.

Constant velocity universal joint

A transfer device associated with a power transmission unit includes an input shaft for connection to an output shaft of the transmission unit, a first output shaft axially aligned with the input shaft through an intermediate shaft, a second output shaft located parallelly apart from the input and intermediate shafts, a selector gear unit associated with a change-speed gearing for selectively completing low and high speed gear trains, and a differential gear unit mounted on the intermediate shaft for distributing drive power to the first and second output shafts. In the change-speed gearing, a high speed drive gear is connected with an output member of the differential gear unit and in mesh with a high speed counter-gear to provide a power path between the differential gear unit and the second output shaft, and a second selector gear unit is assembled adjacent to the first-named selector gear unit on a common axis to control the operation of the differential gear unit.

A transfer device associated with a power transmission unit includes an input shaft for connection to an output shaft of the transmission unit, a first output shaft axially aligned with the input shaft, a second output shaft located parallely apart from the input and first output shafts, a change-speed gearing arranged among the input shaft and the first and second output shafts, and a selector gear unit assembled with the change-speed gearing for selectively completing low and high speed gear trains. In the transfer device, a second gear unit is assembled adjacent to the first-named selector gear unit on a common axis to selectively provide the rear wheel drive and the front and rear wheel drive.

A device for painting by electrostatic powder spraying wherein a passage for triboelectrifying powder particles is formed in an electrically conductive housing and is surrounded by an electric insulator layer of a synthetic macromolecular material, such as nylon or fluorocarbon resin, containing powder of an electrically conductive material, such as copper, aluminum or carbon. As the electrostatic powder moves through the passage, it frictionally engages the insulator layer and causes an electric charge on the surface of the electric insulator, due to the triboelectrification movement in the electric insulator, and a current flows to the powder. Therefore, powder particles can be continuously triboelectrified without suppling any voltage or with supplying a very low voltage for forming an electric field.
