According to one embodiment, a management apparatus includes an acquisition unit, a determination unit, a storage unit, a selection unit, and an output unit. The acquisition unit acquires any one of simple data or detailed data including the simple data from a plurality of image processing apparatuses. If the detailed data is acquired, the determination unit determines maintenance data to be applied to the image processing apparatus which is an output source of the detailed data. The storage unit stores the maintenance data in association with related data included in the detailed data. If the acquisition unit acquires the simple data, the selection unit selects the maintenance data associated with the related data similar to the acquired simple data. The output unit outputs the maintenance data as the data for update with respect to the image processing apparatus which is an output source of the simple data.

An image forming apparatus according to the present invention includes: a first sensor that is provided in a conveying path for a sheet and detects a first passage time of the sheet; a second sensor that is provided in a position different from a position of the first sensor in both a conveying direction of the sheet and a direction orthogonal to the conveying direction, and detects a second passage time of the sheet; a skew determining unit that calculates a skew amount of the sheet from a difference between the first passage time detected by the first sensor and the second passage time detected by the second sensor and determines occurrence of skew of the sheet on the basis of the skew amount; and a cause estimating unit that estimates, when the skew determining unit determines that the skew occurs, a cause of the occurrence of the skew.

Image forming apparatus and method for controlling the same

A technique is provided that enables detection of the state of a sheet skew or the like without adding a special sensor or the like in a sheet carrying apparatus if possible. Information about sheet detection timing by two sensors that are arranged at different positions from each other in a sheet carrying direction and arranged at positions different from each other in a direction orthogonal to the sheet carrying direction is acquired. A skew of a carried sheet is determined in accordance with the acquired information.
