An olefin thermoplastic elastomer composition which is superior in the resistance to oils, heat resistance, formability and flexibility is provided, said elestomer composition comprising the components (A) 40&#x2013;90 parts by weight of a polypropylene resin having a melt flow rate (determined at 230 &#xb0; C. under a load of 2.16 kg according to ASTM D 1238) of 0.1&#x2013;5 g/10 minutes, (B) 10&#x2013;60 parts by weight of a copolymer rubber based on olefin, the contents of the components (A) and (B) summing up to 100 parts by weight, and (C) 20&#x2013;150 parts by weight of a softener, wherein the composition is in such a cross-linked state that the gel content thereof amounts to 97% by weight or higher.

Olefin thermoplastic elastomer composition

This invention relates to a perfectly or partially crosslinked olefinic thermoplastic elastomer composition which comprises 10 to 90 parts by weight of a crystalline polyolefin (a), 90 to 10 parts by weight of an olefin-based copolymer rubber (b) (the total amount of the components (a) and (b) being 100 parts by weight) and 3 to 100 parts by weight of a paraffinic mineral oil softening agent (c) having an evaporation loss of 0.4% by weight or less at a condition of 200&#xb0; C., atmospheric pressure and 1 hour and having a kinetic viscosity (40&#xb0; C.) of 50 to 250 cSt; an olefinic thermoplastic elastomer composition which is obtainable by subjecting a mixture including 40 to 85 parts by weight of an ethylene-based copolymer rubber (A), 60 to 15 parts by weight of an olefinic resin (B) and 45 parts by weight or less of a softening agent (C) [the total amount of the components (A), (B) and (C) being 100 parts by weight] to dynamic heat treatment in the presence of a crossliking agent and which has a gloss value of 80% or more and a haze value of 10% or less on glass plate when subjected to the fogging test at a condition of 100&#xb0; C. and 3 hours according to the prescription of A method of DIN 75201; and a manufacturing method and use of the compositions.

Low fogging thermoplastic elastomer composition and manufacturing method and use of same composition

An olefin-based thermoplastic elastomer composition comprising a thermoplastic elastomer blended with other resins and rubbers is provided. The thermoplastic elastomer contains polypropylene resin and an olefin-based copolymer rubber, and optionally, a linear polyethylene resin, and the thermoplastic elastomer has been crosslinked to a gel content of 95% or higher. A polyolefin resin, an olefin-based copolymer rubber and a softening agent are further blended with optional inorganic filler to provide the olefin-based thermoplastic elastomer composition. This composition is excellent in oil resistance and extrudability, and well-adapted for use as an energy-saving, resources-saving elastomer in applications including surface or skin material in autoparts, industrial mechanical parts, electric and electronic parts, and construction materials.

Thermoplastic olefin elastomer composition

Disclosed is a foamable olefin thermoplastic elastomer composition comprising (A) a partially crosslinked thermoplastic elastomer composition, (B) long-chain branch-containing polypropylene and (C) a foaming agent. The partially crosslinked thermoplastic elastomer composition (A) is obtained by dynamically heat-treating a mixture in the presence of organic peroxide, said mixture comprising specific proportions of a peroxide-crosslinking type olefin copolymer rubber (a), which is an ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer rubber composed of ethylene, an .alpha.-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms and optionally a nonconjugated diene, and a peroxide-decomposition type olefin plastic (b), which is an .alpha.-olefin (co)polymer containing a specific amount of an .alpha.-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms and having a specific MFR. Also disclosed is a foamed product obtained by heating the foamable olefin thermoplastic elastomer composition. From the foamable olefin thermoplastic elastomer composition, a foamed product having an expansion ratio of at least 2 times, being free from surface roughening caused by defoaming, being soft to the touch and showing excellent heat resistance and weathering resistance can be produced with high productivity through simplified steps.
