An inductor includes a core containing magnetic powder and a conductor embedded in the core. The core includes a mounting surface facing a mounting substrate side at the time of mounting, a pair of end surfaces orthogonal to the mounting surface, a pair of side surfaces orthogonal to the mounting surface and the pair of end surfaces. The conductor has a plate shape and includes a conductive wire portion extending inside the core over the end surfaces and a pair of electrode portions provided at both end portions of the conductive wire portion and extending from the end surface of the core to the mounting surface. The conductive wire portion includes a belt-shaped flat plate portion. One surface of the electrode portion facing the core is embedded in the core, and the other surface of the electrode portion facing the one surface is exposed from the core.

Inductor and method for manufacturing inductor

An inductor includes a body including a magnetic body having a coil embedded therein and containing magnetic powder. The coil has a winding portion in which a conductive wire is wound around and has a pair of lead portions taken out from the winding portion. The inductor also includes a pair of outer electrodes formed on the body. In the inductor, each of the lead portions is exposed from at least one side surface of the magnetic body and is coupled to a corresponding outer electrode. In addition, with respect to a position at which each of the lead portions is exposed from the at least one side surface of the magnetic body, a magnetic powder content in a region closer to one of the principal surfaces is higher than a magnetic powder content in a region closer to the other one of the principal surfaces.

Inductor and manufacturing method thereof

An inductor includes a base body and a metal body. The base body contains magnetic powder. The metal body includes first and second metal units. The first metal unit passes through inside the base body. The second metal unit is continuously provided from both ends of the first metal unit and protrudes from the base body to outside. The second metal unit is used as an outer electrode. In a cross section cut along a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the first metal unit, the length of external shape lines of the sectional configuration of the first metal unit is about 1000 to 1800 &#x3bc;m, and the area surrounded by the external shape lines is about 40000 to 112500 &#x3bc;m.

A surface-mount inductor including: a coil formed by winding insulated wire and bringing out lead ends therefrom; and a plurality of premolded bodies for accommodating the coil inside, thereby thermopressing to form, wherein a pair of metal terminals is embedded laterally on the outer surface of the surface-mount inductor, and the lead ends of the coil are brought out from the bottom surface of the surface-mount inductor and laterally laid on the outer surface of the metal terminals, as well as a method for manufacturing the same.

[Technical Problem] This invention provides a surface-mount inductor that is capable of positioning a coil in a predetermined position in a mold, thereby to position the coil in a predetermined position of a core and to prevent led-out ends from being buried in the core. [Solution to the Problem] A surface-mount inductor of the present invention comprises: a coil formed by winding a winding wire; and a core containing a magnetic powder and including the coil therein. The coil has opposite led-out ends, each of which is exposed on respective ones of opposed side surfaces of the core. Each of the led-out ends of the coil is connected to an external electrode formed on the core.
