A flying device includes a base, thrusters, an orientation detection unit, an abnormality detection unit, and an orientation control unit. The plurality of thrusters are provided on the base each including a propeller, a motor which drives the propeller, and a pitch change mechanism unit which changes a pitch of the propeller. The orientation detection unit detects an orientation of the base. The abnormality detection unit detects an abnormality in the thrusters. The orientation control unit, when the abnormality detection unit detects an abnormality in at least one of the thrusters, changes the pitches of the propellers in the remaining thrusters to maintain an orientation of the base detected by the orientation detection unit.

Flying device

In an aerial vehicle, a malfunction determiner determines whether there is a malfunction in one of thrusters of the aerial vehicle. A flight controller activates the thrusters, and controls the output of each of the thrusters. The flight controller deactivates, when it is determined that there is a malfunction in one of the thrusters as a malfunctioned thruster, the malfunctioned thruster. The flight controller deactivates a selected thruster in the thrusters; the selected thruster being paired to the malfunctioned thruster, and controls the active thrusters except for the deactivated thrusters in all the thrusters to make the flight attitude of the aerial vehicle stable. The flight controller controls the active thrusters to cause the aerial vehicle to land while maintaining the flight attitude of the aerial vehicle being stable.

A battery temperature rise causing system has a converting unit for converting voltage of electric power held in one of a rechargeable battery and an accumulator and applies the converted voltage to the other one, and a control unit controlling the converting unit to alternately perform first transfer of electric power from the battery to the accumulator and second transfer of electric power from the accumulator to the battery while changing the first transfer for the second transfer each time the battery voltage reaches a lower limit and changing the second transfer for the first transfer each time the battery voltage reaches an upper limit, and to increase temperature of the battery due to heat generated by electric current flowing through the battery during the electric power transfer.

An apparatus for estimating rotor position for brushless motors capable of accurately estimating rotor position even though power source voltage fluctuates is provided. First, the power source voltage is detected, and voltage is supplied only for a certain period of time and a current response is detected. The current detection value is multiplied by the ratio of a reference voltage to the power source voltage detected to correct the current detection value. Specifically, the peak current detection value is corrected upwardly or downwardly in each direction. A voltage supplying direction in which the current detection value is maximized is searched for to estimate the rotor position and a brushless motor is started.

Apparatus for estimating rotor position of brushless motors and system and method for controlling start-up of brushless motors

An apparatus for estimating rotor position for brushless motors capable of accurately estimating rotor position is provided. The apparatus may be used as a start-up system for brushless motors. The apparatus performs accurate estimation even though power source voltage fluctuates, and is able to provide compact configuration. The apparatus supplies voltage to the coils respectively. In each supplying period, the apparatus counts voltage supply period of time until current value reaches to a current threshold value. Since a coil indicative of rotor stop position is prone to be magnetically saturated. The apparatus estimates the rotor stop position based on the voltage supply periods. Then, the apparatus starts a switching sequence based on the rotor stop position.
