A hybrid electric vehicle includes an engine, a motor, a clutch provided between the engine and the motor, a battery for charging regenerative electric power of the motor, and a control device that controls the engine, the motor, and the clutch. The control device includes a charge determination unit that determines whether the battery is chargeable when there is a deceleration request, and a deceleration control unit that executes, in a negative determination, a first deceleration process to decelerate the hybrid electric vehicle by friction torque of the engine, and executes, in a positive determination, a second deceleration process to decelerate the hybrid electric vehicle by regenerative torque of the motor. In the second deceleration process, the deceleration control unit causes the motor to output the friction torque at a rotational speed of the engine corresponding to a rotational speed of the motor as the regenerative torque.

Hybrid electric vehicle

A period and amplitude of torsional fluctuations of a drive-train to be obtained by applying a phase-lead process, which is a process of advancing a phase by a predetermined amount, to a difference between a rotation speed of a driving source and a rotation speed of the driving source, computed from a rotation speed of a drive shaft, are repeatedly computed. When the computed amplitude of the torsional fluctuations in a predetermined period becomes greater than or equal to a predetermined amplitude at least two times consecutively, predetermined control is executed. In the predetermined control, the driving source is controlled at a torque obtained by adding a correction torque opposite in phase to the torsional fluctuations to a target torque. As a result, vibrations of a driving apparatus are further properly reduced.

Driving source control apparatus

A control device for an engine including an EGR system, the control device includes an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to forcedly open and close an EGR valve and make a malfunction diagnosis of the EGR system, during fuel cutoff, perform ignition timing retard control when the engine returns from the fuel cutoff, and set the ignition timing at a start point of the ignition timing retard control to a more advanced value when an elapsed period from the malfunction diagnosis of the EGR system to a return from the fuel cutoff is short, as compared with the case where the elapsed period is long, so as to reduce a retard amount of the ignition timing at the start point of the ignition timing retard control, relative to the ignition timing immediately before the start of the ignition timing retard control.

Engine control device and engine control method

A direct cylinder injection-type spark ignition internal combustion engine is disclosed. The engine comprises a spark plug, a cavity formed in the top surface of a piston, and a fuel injection valve for injecting fuel into the cavity in nearly the shape of a fan having a relatively small thickness. When the fuel injected in nearly the shape of a fan from the fuel injection valve is considered by being divided into a plurality of fuel segments in a radial direction, a side wall of the cavity has a first fuel deflection passageand a second fuel deflection passagefor so deflecting at least two of the plurality of fuel segments as to pass near the spark plug. The side wall of the cavity is at least partly provided with a return portionthat protrudes toward the inside of the cavity. The first fuel deflection passage is not provided with the return portionor is provided with the return portion having a short protrusion, and the second fuel deflection passage is provided with the return portionhaving a long protrusion.

Direct cylinder injection-type spark ignition internal combustion engine

A vehicular lockup clutch-equipped transmission control apparatus is applied to a vehicle that includes a heater apparatus for heating a cabin by heat from an engine, a transmission that transfers power between the engine and a wheel, and a heat exchanger that conducts heat exchange between the engine and the transmission. The control apparatus controls a lockup clutch that is disposed between the engine and the transmission and that mechanically connects and disconnects a path of power, in accordance with a state of operation of the vehicle. The control apparatus includes a controller that determines whether a heating capability requested of the heater apparatus is at least a first predetermined level based on parameter related to a temperature inside the cabin. If it is determined that the heating capability requested of the heater apparatus is at least the first predetermined level, the controller restricts engagement of the lockup clutch.

Vehicular lockup clutch-equipped transmission control apparatus and control method thereof

A direct cylinder injection-type spark ignition internal combustion engine is disclosed. The engine comprises a spark plug, a cavity formed in the top surface of a piston, and a fuel injection valve for injecting fuel into the cavity in nearly the shape of a fan having a relatively small thickness. When the fuel injected in nearly the shape of a fan from the fuel injection valve is considered by being divided into a plurality of fuel segments in a radial direction, a side wall of the cavity has a first fuel deflection passage and a second fuel deflection passage for so deflecting at least two of the plurality of fuel segments as to pass near the spark plug. The side wall of the cavity is at least partly provided with a return portion that protrudes toward the inside of the cavity. The first fuel deflection passage is not provided with the return portion or is provided with the return portion having a short protrusion, and the second fuel deflection passage is provided with the return portion having a long protrusion.

An engine output for bringing the drive power of a motor vehicle to a requested value is determined as a target output. One of the lean burn and the stoichiometric burn is selected as a combustion form that achieves a best fuel consumption performance in terms of the control of the actual engine output to the target output. That is, an output value that serves as a criterion for determining whether to switch the combustion force is determined based on the minimum fuel consumption rate during the stoichiometric-burn operation and the minimum fuel consumption rate during the lean-burn operation in which the fuel consumption involved in the rich spike control is taken into account. If the target output is less than the output value, the lean-burn operation is performed. If the target output is greater than the output value, the stoichiometric-burn operation is performed.

Drive power control apparatus and method for vehicle

A speed change control system for a continuously variable transmission, for controlling a gear ratio by deciding an abrupt acceleration demand of a driver, to effect an abrupt speed change when it is decided that the driver demands an abrupt acceleration. The speed change control system comprises: a drive state decider for deciding that the vehicle has changed from a driven state to a drive state, when said abrupt acceleration is demanded at the driven state; and a speed change controller for controlling said continuously variable transmission to effect said abrupt speed change, after said drive state decider decides that the vehicle has changed from the driven state to the drive state.

Shift control system for continuously variable transmission

A vehicle drive power control apparatus and method control the speed ratio of a transmission based on a speed shift line that is set so that, within a practical region, the speed shift line is in a low revolution speed side of an optimal fuel consumption line determined based on the efficiency of the engine and the efficiency of the transmission. Therefore, the width of increase in revolution speed from the speed occurring at the beginning of the practical region is curbed. Hence, the fuel consumption resulting from inertia torques caused by fluctuations in engine revolution speed, that is, fluctuations in the revolution speed of the input shaft of the transmission and a fluidic power transfer mechanism, is reduced, so that the efficiency as a whole increases and the fuel economy improves in comparison with the case where the optimal fuel consumption line is used as a control basis.

Vehicle drive power control apparatus, and control method

A target driving force is calculated by an ECU on the basis of an accelerator opening and a vehicle speed, and a rounded target driving force value (or a corrected target driving force), as gradually changed from the driving force, is determined in the course to reach the target driving force. On the other hand, a rounded target power value (or a corrected target power) is determined on the basis of the rounded target driving force value. Moreover, the gear ratio of a CVT is controlled according to a target power calculated on the basis of the target driving force, and the load on an engine is controlled on the basis of the rounded target power value, so that the reduction in the power characteristics or the physical discomfort, as might otherwise be caused by the difference in the response between the engine and the CVT, is loosened.

Control system for vehicle having continuously variable transmission

A fuel supply amount control apparatus for an internal combustion engine uses an idling control amount QISC obtained by reducing an idling control amount Qa by an idling control amount correction value KQISC, when determining the amount of fuel injected for the lean combustion when the vehicle is running. Therefore, during the lean combustion with the D range is selected, there is substantially no difference between the road load amount of fuel injected during the idling state and the road load amount of fuel injected during a low-speed running of the vehicle. Hence, an increase in the amount of fuel injection during the low-speed running of the vehicle based on the lean combustion achieved upon a fuel increase request does not result in an excessively great output torque of the engine, so that the low-speed running of the vehicle becomes stable and good drivability can be maintained.

Fuel supply amount control apparatus and method for internal combustion engine

Abrupt deceleration of a vehicle is detected based on a depression amount or a depression speed of a brake pedal. If abrupt deceleration of the vehicle has been detected during fuel-cut control, a command is issued to make forcible restoration of control out of the fuel-cut control. Then a lock-up clutch is disconnected and fuel injection for an engine is resumed so as to restore a rotational speed of the engine. As a result, the engine is prevented from stalling due to the undershooting of the engine rotational speed.
