A program update system includes a vehicle including a first and second electronic device, and a program transmission device. The program transmission device is configured to communicate with the vehicle and transmit a program for the first electronic device and a program for the second electronic device to the vehicle. The program transmission device transmits an update program for a first electronic device to a second electronic device. The program transmission device transmits a program in a state before the update for backup. The second electronic device updates the program for the first electronic device based on the update program. The second electronic device stores the program in the state before the update.

Program update system, program transmission device, and program transmission method

A program update system includes a vehicle including a first and second electronic devices, and a program transmission device. The program transmission device is configured to communicate with the vehicle and transmit a program for the first electronic device and a program for the second electronic device to the vehicle. The program transmission device transmits an update program for a first electronic device to a second electronic device. The program transmission device transmits a program in a state before the update for backup. The second electronic device updates the program for the first electronic device based on the update program. The second electronic device stores the program in the state before the update.

An in-vehicle control device includes a vehicle-side communication unit installed on a vehicle and communicating with at least an information processing device external to the vehicle, and a first processor. The first processor is configured to: receive an installation request for an application program from the information processing device; in a case in which the installation request has been received, notify the information processing device of a rule defining whether or not a communication frame received at the vehicle-side communication unit is unauthorized and of equipment information related to optional equipment of the vehicle; acquire the application program and a rule that has been updated based on the notified rule and the equipment information from the information processing device; and, in a case in which the updated rule has been acquired, update the rule to the updated rule.

A valve timing control apparatus includes a housing that is rotatable with a crankshaft; a vane rotor that is rotatable with a camshaft; and a phase controller to compulsorily change a rotation phase of the vane rotor alternately between an advance side and a retard side with respect to the housing if an engine shifts to a high rotation state after the engine continuously has a low rotation state for a predetermined period or more. The engine in the low rotation state has a rotation speed lower than a predetermined rotation speed. The engine in the high rotation state has a rotation speed equal to or higher than the predetermined rotation speed.
