An image pickup apparatus including a lens barrel, a hollow shaft, a base, electric wiring, and a protection member. The lens barrel has a lens and an image pickup device embedded therein. The hollow shaft is rotatable about an axis intersecting with an optical axis of the lens. The axis serves as a central axis of the hollow shaft. The base supports the lens barrel in a rotatable manner by using the hollow shaft. The electric wiring extends through the inside of the hollow shaft to electrically transmit an image pickup signal of the image pickup device. The protection member is provided in the hollow shaft so as to prevent the electric wiring from coming into contact with the hollow shaft.

Image pickup apparatus with rotary lens barrel

A camera system is disclosed which allows different types of lens apparatuses to be used in combination with a single image-taking apparatus without requiring changes of focus control signals on the side of the image-taking apparatus depending on the type of a lens apparatus mounted on the image-taking apparatus. The camera system includes an image-taking apparatus which outputs a focus control signal and a lens apparatus which includes a focus lens and is mounted on the image-taking apparatus. The lens apparatus includes a controller which produces a drive signal according to a type of focus of the lens apparatus based on the focus control signal and controls drive of the focus lens based on the drive signal.

A camera system () is provided which includes an interchangeable lens () including a group of lenses (L, L, L, L) for imaging an object, and a camera () to which the interchangeable lens () is to be installed. The camera () includes a correction angle information calculating means () for calculating correction angle information as to the posture of the camera (), and a first sending means () for sending calculated correction angle information to the interchangeable lens (). The interchangeable lens () includes the lens (L) which optically corrects angular shift on the basis of the correction angle information sent by the first sending means ().

An optical system controller for a video camera having a lens barrel in which is arranged a movable optical system and on the outer surface of which is arranged an adjusting movable mechanism for the movable optical system. It permits the user to recognize easily and directly the display indicating the position of the movable optical system or the opening of the aperture in the lens barrel. The optical system controller consists of the focus adjusting movable mechanism, the zoom adjusting movable mechanism, and the aperture adjusting movable mechanism, which are arranged on the outer surface of the lens barrel; it also consists of the focus lens position display, the zoom lens position display, and the aperture opening display, which constitute the optical display means arranged respectively in the vicinity of the movable mechanisms; the focus lens position display performs optical display in response to the position of the focus lens in the lens barrel, the zoom lens position display performs optical display in response to the position of the zoom lens in the lens barrel, and the aperture opening display performs optical display in response to the opening of the iris diaphragm in the lens barrel.
