A route guidance display device for an automotive vehicle capable of displaying route patterns with a three-dimensional effect to enhance the viewer's comprehension of the road route situation being encountered. The display device includes a plurality of intersecting display segments indicative of corresponding possible route configurations. A depth-enhancing segment is included in a portion indicating the straight-ahead route. An intersection name display section may be separately included to display the name and related information regarding an intersection laying ahead.

Route guidance display device

A liquid crystal display device for displaying numerals in segments and in color including N common electrode divisions having interdigital configurations and striped transparent colored wires of N colors formed on the common electrode divisions in conformity therewith, with each segment containing display color elements of N+1 colors or more. The striped transparent colored layers are successively arranged in repetitive patterns, and may consist of two or more colors. The pitch of the striped transparent colored wires should provide a viewing angle within 2 minutes.

Liquid crystal display device having interdigitated common electrodes

A liquid crystal display is provided with elements arranged in matrix form and addressed by timing scanning and signal pulses so as to select particular display elements. According to input data, the display is made to move while maintaining its shape so that an analog of a mechanical system such as a dial or gauge having a movable pointer may be obtained.

Electronic analog display device

A matrix addressing method for a group of X-Y matrix display cells having an X.sub.i - Y.sub.j two-dimensional matrix electrode structure (where i equals 1,2,3, . . . , M, and j equals 1,2,3, . . . , N) during an N time frame period comprising the steps of: applying an X.sub.i - electrode voltage e.sub.Xi having a binary value of one or zero to the 1,2,3, . . . , M electrodes in such a manner that only a single binary one is applied during an N time frame period, applying a Y.sub.j -electrode voltage e.sub.Yj having a binary value of one or zero sequentially to the 1,2,3, . . . N Y.sub.j electrodes in such a manner that a binary one is only applied to the first electrode during the first time frame, a binary one is only applied to the second electrode during the second time frame, a binary one is only applied to the third electrode during the third time frame, . . . , and a binary one is only applied to the Nth electrode during the Nth time frame; and addressing matrix display cells P.sub.ij in response to the timing at which the electrode voltages e.sub.Xi and e.sub.Yj assume individual binary states.
